21st BULAWAN AWARD WINNERS NAMED

Bulawan Award is the annual product design competition of the Association of Negros Producers, which recognizes outstanding products by ANP member, and is designed to encourage ingenuity, creativity and commitment in terms of product innovation, packaging and the development of new market-driven products that are competitive in both domestic and international markets.
The Bulawan Award contest had its judging last August 30 and 31, 2011 chaired by Director Christina Marie Gaston. It uncovered the fresh & unique presentation & palatable taste for food product category. There are Ten (10) entries for pastries, six (6) for confectionary, two (2) for delicacies and eight (8) for health and wellness. ANP invited admired Chefs and food critics to savor this year’s delightful food entries. Judges placed the entries base on Shelf life of the product, Visual Impact, Originality, Product Appeal and usage of Coffee as Focus Ingredients. Aside from the juried Bulawan Award winners the Committee also selected three (3) entries which emerged as the best in its criteria. The winners are:
FOOD CATEGORY
- A. Bulawan Award Winner for Pastries goes to Sugarlandia’s “Mocha Logs”, which also bagged three titles as Best in Visual Impact, Best in Originality and Best in Product Appeal.

Alter Trade’s “Moringa Hot Chili” collected all the Deli’s best criteria; Visual Impact, Originality and Product Appeal.
To be tagged as Bulawan’s Award winner, juried percentage grade should at least reach the minimum of 90%. There are no winners for both the Health and Wellness and Delicacies.
Bulawan’s 2nd day event is for the Non-Food Sector, the Fashion and Jewelry, Gifts and Houseware, Furniture and Furnishings. The winning designs reflect that unique sensibility and the quality of work should exceed the expectation of the jurors’ base on Visual Impact, Design Excellence, Craftsmanship and Usage of Bamboo as Focus Material. The winners were chosen for their original designs which exhibited the level of creativity consistent with the use of Bamboo and Philippine made materials. The collection are truly functional pieces of art and will appeal to the eco-minded and also trendsetters who recognizes these useful necessities can also be a sought after accessories.
