I am not the climber type of tourist. I go to a place, and I try to explore as much as I could, but I do not most of the time include some hiking or climbing activity. This is perhaps because I find it out of my interest or out of my usual league. As I visited San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, I was ready to explore a lot of old places, beaches, and food hubs. Just then, I was invited by a local friend to give the Mayana Peak a short for I might love the adventure. At first, I was hesitant since the idea of climbing itself is already tiring enough for me. But with much encouragement from my friend, I decided to give it a shot.
Ernesto and Jang Yap at the Mayana Peak
As we travel heading to the area, it only took us about two to three hours of travel from Bacolod City heading to San Carlos City via bus ride. We stopped at a junction, and we rode a habal-habal. The road may be a bit rocky and bumpy, but the 7-minute ride on it was unexplainably fun. When we arrived at the registration area, we were offered a tour guide, but my friend declined the offer since she said that climbing is as easy as walking in a park. Hence, there is no need for us to hire a tour guide.
What I can say about the climbing experience is that it is ideally good! There was no much struggle, and I think that it can be done by almost anyone. In short, there is no need for expertise to do the trekking and climbing experience. Just after about 35-minutes of combined trekking and walking, we have reached Mayana Peak. Voila! This has been one of the wisest decisions I have ever made in my life! Choosing to go on this adventure is indeed a very rewarding one.
Mayana Peak
As I admire the scenic view at the top, I cannot help but wonder how such beautiful scenery is possible. As I stop for a while and enjoy the beauty of everything my eyes can land on, I cannot help but feel very blessed to have witnessed such a beautiful creation. The feeling indeed is very worth it and satisfying. It is as if, I was an eagle trying to grasp every single detail that I could see from the top. The 365-degrees view at the top is enough to make you feel delighted and contented. Of course, we did not miss the chance of taking photos.
If you happen to visit the Mayana Peak, I suggest that you go here earlier so that you could perhaps catch the scenic sunrise. Other than that, trek as early as 5 or 6 in the morning so that you could avoid the heat of the sun and the possible flock of other tourists. Also, wear something that will make you feel comfortable and at the same time, protected to whatever kind of weather or circumstances.
What are you waiting for? Share the good news with your friends and be ready to conquer the beautiful Mayana Peak! Have a Happy Trip!
