Escape to Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort: Your Forest Retreat Near Bacolod
Contents
Just a short drive from the bustling city of Bacolod lies a tranquil oasis known as Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort. Whether you’re a nature lover seeking a serene escape or a city dweller looking for a peaceful break, Baluarte offers a lush, forested vibe that captivates all who visit. I returned here after a two-year hiatus, eager to experience the tranquil ambiance that had so charmed me during my initial visit amidst the pandemic’s height. Despite the recent effects of El Niño, turning the vibrant greens to subdued browns, the forest’s essence remained, offering a restful backdrop to our adventures. Joined by my fellow educators and travel enthusiasts Lei Lani Dusaban and Sonny Cabahug, the experience was enriched by shared moments of laughter and friendship, reminding us of nature’s enduring beauty.
Arrival and Check-In at Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort
Guests are greeted warmly upon arrival at Baluarte, with check-in promptly at 2 PM and check-out at 12 noon the following day. On our visit, we were pleasantly surprised to be allowed into our room before the scheduled time—a welcome relief from the midday heat.
Room Selection and Comfort at Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort
Baluarte offers a variety of accommodations perfectly tailored for those looking to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. During our recent stay, we were delighted to receive a complimentary upgrade, although it’s worth mentioning that such gestures depend on the current occupancy levels. Our room was exceptionally spacious and comfortable, priced at an affordable ₱3,500—down from the standard rate of ₱3,800. Equipped with two queen beds, the room is perfectly suited for a family with a couple and two kids, or for small groups looking for a cozy retreat. While the room comes with basic amenities, guests should remember to bring personal items like toothpaste and toothbrushes, as these are not provided.
The absence of a TV in the rooms encourages guests to truly disconnect, but for those who need to stay connected, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. This feature is perfect for guests who may need to catch up on emails or share their serene experiences online. Drinking water is readily available and replenished by attentive staff upon request. Additionally, the cost of the room includes a complimentary breakfast for four, adding great value. Embrace the serene environment and the warm hospitality of Baluarte for a truly refreshing and relaxing stay.
Exploring Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort
The place is truly captivating, especially without the effects of El Nino, showcasing its natural landscape that appeals to outdoor enthusiasts. Nestled among majestic trees, the resort offers a forest ambiance that invites guests to explore and take leisurely short nature walks at night. However, it’s important to manage expectations, as during this El Nino season, the surroundings may appear dry and brown. Despite the dry spell that left the creek bed empty during our visit, the serene forest trails provided a picturesque setting for peaceful nighttime strolls.
Although the usual flow of the creek is absent during the dry season and the pools may not be at their best due to maintenance issues, the resort’s trees are illuminated at night, offering a different perspective and hiding the dry, brown areas from view. Visitors are encouraged to adjust their expectations regarding the swimming facilities and instead, fully immerse themselves in other activities, such as enjoying each other’s company while savoring a meal or relaxing at the resort.
Dining Experience
The culinary offerings at Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort are a delightful surprise, not to be overlooked during your stay. The resort offers reasonably priced, well-prepared meals that cater to various tastes. To ensure a seamless dining experience, all guests are required to pre-order their dinner before 6 PM, guaranteeing timely and efficient service.
The staff’s dedication to hospitality shines through in their attentive service, making each meal enjoyable and adding a personal touch to the dining experience. Additionally, the resort does not allow outside food, which helps maintain the quality and atmosphere of the dining experience, ensuring that guests can fully appreciate the flavors and ambiance of Baluarte’s culinary offerings.
Evening Delights with a Bonfire
Evening at Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort brings a special charm, especially with the opportunity to gather around a crackling bonfire. As the day cools, the resort often organizes this delightful activity, inviting guests to unwind and enjoy the warmth of the fire under the starry sky. Sipping a glass of wine by the bonfire adds a touch of magic to the evening, creating memorable moments that you’ll cherish long after your stay.
However, it’s advisable to check the availability of the bonfire during rainy periods, as weather conditions may affect this offering. Additionally, you may inquire with the resort if you can bring some hotdogs or marshmallows to cook over the bonfire, adding a fun and interactive element to your evening session. Gather around, share stories, and enjoy the cozy ambiance that the bonfire brings, making your evening at Baluarte truly delightful and unforgettable.
Overall Impressions and Recommendations for Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort
Nestled amidst nature’s beauty, they provide a tranquil escape from the rigors of everyday life, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by lush greenery. However, my recent visit to El Nino revealed a different side, as the landscape had transformed into shades of brown, dampening my initial excitement. The pool, once a beacon of hope for relaxation, was unfortunately not well-maintained, preventing us from enjoying a refreshing swim and limiting our activities to indoor rest. Despite these setbacks, the resort’s staff exuded warmth and hospitality, ensuring our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The resort’s natural charm remains undeniable, providing a serene atmosphere that soothes the soul.
Despite its current challenges, Baluarte Rest and Relaxation Resort has the potential to be a top-notch destination, especially during the greener, rain-filled months when nature’s vibrancy returns. Enhancements in maintenance and leisure offerings, such as the addition of TVs or more recreational options, could significantly elevate the guest experience. Despite the underwhelming pool conditions, the resort’s natural beauty and the staff’s hospitality make it a promising destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in the heart of nature.
