SWEET GREENS!

Aside from social networking, I love to dine out…its my way of catching up with friends. One of the place I frequent is the Sweet Greens Café, located at Lacson Street, right beside the Negros Showroom. Sweet Greens is almost part of my business and leisure  life. This is where I normally  bring my buyers for a meeting  or simply to have my afternoon coffee.

DOOR LEADING TO THE GARDEN

Interestingly, Sweet Greens started as a cut flower business that sold orchids and potted plants.  The owners decided to put up a small café with few tables just for the husbands waiting for their wives shopping for plants.  The café was soon expanded into a restaurant due to positive word-of-mouth from its satisfied customers.

Sweet greens offered delectable dishes from an old family recipes, passed from one generation to generation. Among their best –tasting dishes is the Pancit Molo, best eaten while its piping hot, their Molo is truly meaty and tasty. Another soup, Binacol, made from a mix of chicken, lemongrass, and other spices, was likewise a winner with its distinct taste. But my personal favorite is their organic sautéed mushroom or we call it “uhong” in vernacular.

SAUTED MUSHROOM

Other must try dishes are Dinuguan or pork blood stew.Another favorite, is their Fried Chicken. This simple chicken dish is surprisingly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. You don’t need to add more seasoning or slather it with gravy to enjoy it. Sweet Greens’ chicken was finger-licking good! Of course you must try their Kaldereta, you can never tell it’s a goat’s meat..

The best part of dining in Sweet Greens Bacolod is their ambiance. Sweet Greens offers al fresco dining in their garden, a romantic and relaxing place to eat especially at night. They have a small function room which can accommodate a group of 20 for a meeting or training. Their garden is also perfect for parties during summer and of course these rainy days they have canopies to save you.

Sweet Greens Bacolod also sells some deli and pastries which are good pasalubong (travel gifts) since they are nicely packed and they taste good as well. You should try their  piayitos, a gourmet version of the famous Bacolod pastry piaya. It’s light, crunchy, and not too sweet. It also comes in a variety of fillings – mango, coffee, ube and the regular moscovado. Fresh baked goods were being sold; everything from Ensaymada, Spanish Breads, Cheese Rolls and Jamaican Patties

If you haven’t tried their food yet, please come  26th Negros Trade Fair , Rockwell Tent Makati City on September 28-October 2, 2011.
