The rain stopped. The sun shines! and “Pedring  (typhoon NESAT) is finally out of the country… this is indeed a blessing for the Negrenses as iNegros (26th Negros Trade Fair) formally opens at Rockwell Tent, Makati.

Over 5o producers of the Association of Negros Producers (ANP) joined the fair. The day started with the bleesing of the booth with Fr. Fang whose been doing this for 5 years in a row. The formal opening ceremonies were done in the afternoon. Provincial Officers, Dignitaries and special guests attended the ceremony with no less than Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez and GSIS Chairman Mr. Bitay Lacson as the Guest Speaker for the event.

The first day was a success as shown by the number of tickets sold. Many had noticed the preparation made by the participants in terms of product designs, booth layout and packaging. Showbiz personalities, Derek Ramsey, Tweety de Leon, Angel Jacob and Philippines Next Top Model winner and a proud Bacolodnon Grendel Alvarado were also present.

On September 29, the newest sector of the ANP  – the Natural and Organic – will have their formal launch with activities like the cooking demo of the Institute of Culinary Arts students, and a health forum entitled “Green is Life”  from 2 to 6pm, on topics “Healthy Living is Healthy Eating” (Dr Albert Jo), “Organic Agriculture and its Impact on Environment” (Ms Pam Henares), “Negros:  an Agro-Tourism Destination” (Mr Mon Penalosa) and “Organic Herbs and Spices for Wellness” (Ms Ruby Cruz).

Friday will focus on the fashion group, with the live mannequins of “Black-Out” and a mini fashion show in the afternoon.  The Provincial Government of Bacolod City with Atty Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, will have KONEK – which  stands for Negrense IT Experts and Entrepreneurs Forum on Friday, September 30 at 6pm.  Just before KONEK, Negros bloggers will meet with their Manila counterparts at 5pm.

The Provincial Tourism Office will have the Negrense night on Oct 1.  Earlier on that same day, the Sangguniang Kabataan Negros Federation will have their BaSKug forum featuring guests like Makati Mayor JunJun BInay and Sen Loren Legarda.

La Salle Alumni will have “Tipon Negrosallians!  Remembering the Past, Living the Present, Creating the Future” on Oct 2, Sunday from 2 to 6pm.

More than the events, the Negros Trade Fair’s best feature are the beautiful products of the ANP producers which boast of their ingenuity, craftsmanship and creativity.  You can shop for gift items, house ware, furniture, garments and authentic Negrense food.  The Negros Trade Fair will open every day at 10 am until 9 pm.
