Greek Dining Experience at CYMA Greek Tavern

One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating.  ~Luciano Pavarotti and William Wright, Pavarotti, My Own Story

I was tired at that time and we just have an overnight stop over in  Manila before we go to Samar the following day.  I was with Ms. Tess Nunuez, NWTF Training Manager and Mr. Bernard Malacaman, NWTF Area Manager  for Samar and we were looking for a place to eat…we saw the Cyma Greek Tavern at Robinsons Malate. Cyma is Greek restaurant which has several branches in Manila and even in Boracay. Cyma had truly created  a  Greek restaurant in the Philippines.

Dining at  CYMA is truly an engaging   experience which  starts with great food . That night we tried the following: Red Snapper, Spinach Artichoke Fondue, Roasted Cedar Planked, Salmon Roka Salata and a bottomless freshly squeezed lemonade.

As they say, Greeks go to the neighborhood restaurant, most often, they start with a plate filled with exquisite little treats called Mezedes. The word is translated as “appetizers” and means “something small and delicate”. Of course, we have to imitate that, so we try their “Spinach and Artichoke Fondue”.

“Spinach and Artichoke Fondue” is a  blend of melting cheese, sun dried tomatoes and feta, served with warm pita triangles and grilled garlic bread.

For the salad, we tried the ,”Roka Salata”-its ingredients include Fresh arugula (ROKA), chopped romaine lettuce, sun-dried tomatoes, candied walnuts, with shaved parmesan in Traditional Greek Vinaigrette.

CYMA is so  proud of our fresh seafood. So the waiter  suggested their most popular  Red  Snapper  for us . Red Snapper is lean, moist and finely textured with a mild sweet flavor. In keeping with Greek tradition, our fish was  cooked whole on the bone to maximize natural flavors and juices.

Our dining experience with Cyma was great.  The food presentation is great and courtesy and style of service is wonderful. I’m sure I will come to have another  Happy Trip experience with Cyma! Opa!

*OPA in Greek is  an exclamation of joy, like “whoopee” or “hooray.”
