Another must  see place when you visit North Carolina is its new state park, The  Chimney Rock State Park.

The  Chimney Rock State Park is located  south of Asheville, the Village of Chimney Rock North Carolina  and is sitting  at the base of the famous Chimney Rock and along the Rocky Broad River. The  Chimney Rock State Park is  primarily catering to tourists who are visiting the Rock and nearby Lake Lure, the Village is a perfect stop over place  for lunch or some souvenir shopping and, of course, a haven  for photo enthusiast.

Chimney Rock Park is a must see place   when you visit  the North Carolina mountains. While I was in the park, I had   forgotten  all my concerns, while  taking  a deep  breath of refreshing mountain air. My visit was also an opportunity to  be with nature through the  hiking trails and    in the cool mist of Hickory Nut Falls.

For food lovers, a number of  nice restaurants are also located right on the bold Rocky Broad River, which flows right through the Village on it’s way to nearby Lake Lure.

The  Chimney Rock State Park is in the Hickory Nut Gorge, a natural gap through the southern Appalachian mountains that contains such unique natural features as the Chimney like Rock formation, falls,  rare plants and animals. Chimney Rock Village, incorporated in 1991, is among just a few villages in North Carolina. Most buildings downtown, just outside Chimney Rock Park, date to the 1920s. The Village became a resort town around Chimney Rock Park, which began to be developed in 1902.

The 404-foot Hickory Nut Falls is among the most dramatic waterfalls in Western North Carolina and for movie fans, parts of “The Last of the Mohicans” were filmed at the park.
