SMX BACOLOD OPENING: A NIGHT OF FUN AND GLAMOUR

SMX Bacolod’s opening was a night of fun and glamour. Attended by the stakeholders of Bacolod and Negros and VIP guests from Manila.Spotted at the event were Negros Province’ First Lady Dr. Marilyn Maranon, Ms. Elizabeth Sy of SMX Conventions and Hotels and Mayor Monico Puentebella, the media, bloggers and many more. The program was divided in three parts. The Opening Ceremonies and Speeches started at Hall 3 of SMX where the exhibits of Items from the Province of Negros (mostly pieces from Bacolod City) are being displayed. Of course, part of the exhibitors that were invited were some of the members of the Furniture Sector of the Association of Negros Producers including my pieces at Jojo Vito Designs Gallery.

The Exhibit at Hall 3

After the formalities on the opening program, we were lead into the entertainment prepared by SMX Management with the dramatic opening of the Hall 2 of SMX. Everyone were awed when the doors of Hall 2 were opened. The Hall was a bit dark, with the light focusing only on the backdrop of Hall 2 which was a large picture of the Ruins covering the entire wall. The lightings made the picture realistic with matching smoke effect. There were live trees and plants added which made the place even more real. I felt I was watching a 4D movie. As we look for a seat to settle for the entertainment  musical pieces were  played by Vivace String Ensembe dressed in Filipiniana costumes.

MMB School of Dance

The students of MMB School of Dance performed to the tune of “Ili-Ili Tulog Anay”, a very Hiligaynon/Ilongo lullaby usually sang by mothers when bringing  their child to sleep. I was able to get a seat in front so I was bale to have a better view of the show. Then a fashion show begins. The fashion show showcased 3 young Bacolodnon Designers with some Negrense Beauty Queens being their models.

Local Beauties wearing Rene Salud’s Creation

I was happy to see our local beauties walking like a pro. The finale of the fashion show was a showcase of the famous Renee Salud with the 2013 Miss International Bea Rose Santiago as her lead model. Of course, some of his creations were modeled still by our local beauties.

The Wedding Gown Finale of Bea Rose Santiago

After the fashion show, we were led again into the third part of the event which is the party. The doors of Hall 1 were opened. There was a DJ, the lights were for party of course. Cocktails and drinks were served in this part of the program catered by Chef BJ Uy of the Planta Hotel..
