BYRON’S BACK RIBS: A PLEASURABLE GASTRONOMICAL TREAT

BYRON’S BACK RIBS: A PLEASURABLE GASTRONOMICAL TREAT

I love baby back ribs.

I was in a meat shop when I saw baby back ribs labeled and displayed at the counter. I immediately took what was available hoping to have at home what I love to eat in some grilled restaurants in the city.

I know that grilling requires  experienced hands , but I  believe anyone can learn how to grill baby back ribs. With some tips from friends, we did our best  hoping to come up  with  legendary, fall-off-the-bone masterpieces . The results, disappointment. It was dry and not as savory as what I imagined to have that day. Well , I know for a fact that what I was eating in my favorite restaurants is a product of years of experience and practice in grilling. So I decided to just leave the job to them.

Byron’s Back ribs

Very recently, I was invited in one of the   restaurants in Bacolod City which are known for their Baby Back Ribs, Byron’s Backribs at Homesite, Bacolod City. With three other bloggers, we visited the place to enjoy and sample their  specialties. I had been eating in their other branches in the city, but for their main and original branch which is at  Homesite, my   last visit was in 2014. I was really impressed and satisfied with that visit, which motivates to write a review of their place. Click here for my first experience at Byron’s Backribs.

Together with my  co-blogger at The Happy Trip and Top on My List, Chan-chan Torres, we arrived ahead of other bloggers at Byron’s Backribs in their main and original branch at Homesite, Bacolod City. At the place, we were meet by Friday  one of the owners of the restaurant.

Looking at the place, Byron’s is still on its old and humble Nipa restaurant.Yet, I am till amazed that despite this no fancy place and a quite remote location, people still go just to ty what they offer.

While waiting for the other bloggers, we were treated with their Fruit Punch which we also ordered way back on our first visit. As I was browsing their menu, I was surprised that they didn’t change their pricing.

After a while, Mea Pabiona of Mea in Bacolod and Claire Algarme of First Time Travels arrived.

We were served first with the specialty of the house, the Byron’s Back ribs.   Generously  cut and beautifully prepared back ribs were offered before us. Just like almost all food bloggers do, we do take pictures before eating. I have to admit I have a bias for this dish. For me, Byron’s has the   tastiest smoky baby back ribs in town.  Of course, this masterpiece  won’t be complete without their  barbecue sauces. Tasting Byron’s Backribs is just heavenly. They are so tender, juicy  and the meat falls right off the bone.

Another dish which I like most from Byron’s is their Sisig. The presentation was very simple but it was surely delectable. I particularly like the smoky flavor  in the dish. PhP 100

With the popularity of Byron’s Backribs, the owners were prompted to open new branches to cater to their ever growing market. They have now a branch at Homegrown, an Al Fresco dining area beside Bob’s Café at Lacson Street. They also have a branch at the Ayala North Point in Talisay and soon their very first outlet in Cebu.

Below are some of their offerings…

Spareribs. This is normally served with rice for only PHP 150. You can choose between their original sauce or their new spicy sauce. If you want a drink, just add PHP 10 and you will have an ice tea.

Pork Barbecue. 3 sticks of Barbecue with rice cost only PHP39. Isn’t that amazing?

Boneless Bagus. For only PHP 150 you can enjoy this dish with rice. Again, just add PHP 10 for a glass of ice tea.

Grilled Chicken With Barbecue Sauce. 1 pc of chicken with rice is priced at PHP 69.00

Nilagang Baka. This dish plus rice is priced at PHP 150. Just PhP 10 for a glass of ice tea.
