Cebu City,  known for their furniture industry and beautiful beaches  now gives you a different flavor from its menu: the Crown Regency’s The Sky Experience Adventure.  This adventure is not for the faint  hearted individuals, but ssurely a must try experience…

The first attraction, the Sky Walk Extreme, is located on the thirty-seventh floor and entails going on a guided walk around the edge of the hotel on narrow, transparent glass flooring. The second attraction, the Edge Coaster, involves being tightly fastened into a two-seater coaster, which is tilted at a fifty-five-degree angle and literally revolves on the edge of the thirty-eighth floor.

I frequent Cebu City, but never did I try these before—simply because no one would go with me. But in our latest training projects with the Norwegian Ship Owners Association (NSA) for the University of Cebu, we were able to spend one evening to experience Cebu’s best.

Three of us — yours truly, Another happy tripper Anton and Loiue (all from  INTRASPEC Management Consultancy) decided to experience the fun. Of course Anton had experience this  in his prior visit to Cebu.

So, there we go–finding ourselves in   the hotel’s thirty-eighth floor, hands gripping the metal bars and feet dangling in the air, holding on for our dear life. Louie was accompanied by an attendant, while Anton and I went together. Anton was the one  controlling  the tilting angle using the joystick embedded in our seat tilting our seat at fifty-five degrees. My hand were dripping with sweat   especially when we tilted our cart  and as if I will fall off from my seat. But after  a few seconds , we regained control of our coaster’s tilting angle and enjoyed the rest of the ride in a leisurely… After the experience  , we were presented with the option to take home our photos (for an additional fee) and were presented with “I Survived” certificates complete with our inscribed names for free, which added a nice, surprising touch to the whole experience.

After the ride , the attendant offered to tour us around and offered to take our pictures using our DSLR…we were very excited to pose…only to find out that almost all of our pictures were blurred.

After the picture taking we proceeded to our next adventure. Located at the 37th floor of the Crown Regency Cebu, the Sky Walk Extreme lets thrill-seekers walk around the edge of the building, being one  the tallest hotel structure in the Philippines.

The platform where Sky walkers would step on looked intimidating,  the Walk can hold up to 5,000 pounds. There is a harness that will be strapped very securely around you. Even if you fall off, which is a long shot, you’re not going down. You’ll just hang for awhile. Besides, you won’t be doing the Crown Regency Cebu Sky Walk Extreme alone. There are guides who will walk along with you.”

Before we proceed  we were asked to  wear an  orange jumpsuit and white sneakers for  safety. We didn’t wear their sneakers as we were wearing rubber shoes already.The guides gave us a little briefing on safety and an added encouragement.

We finally stepped out on the platform and began our walk. Anton went ahead . I sense,  a little — just a little —   fear. He started to make a very small step, another step..and another, but all baby steps. Aha! We exclaimed “Happy feet! You looked like a cast in the happy feet movie. We started to laughed, and somehow it gave us a sense of comfort.  The humor of the guide    during our first few steps efficiently distracted our anxiety. By pointing out the breathtaking view that was set before us we also started to get a little more comfortable. But what  totally eased our fear was when we saw a  camera taking  our pictures. The walk around the building took around 15 minutes to finish, and our stunts included sitting on the edge of the platform while our feet dangled in the air,a  ballet pose on the edge,whew!

We promised to try their zipline and other offerings on our next visit and maybe bringing more friends with us.

Extreme indeed, but surely a Happy Trip!
