Independence Day

Date: June 12 Location: Kawit, Cavite

Independence Day Celebration, marked by a flag raising ceremony on the balcony of the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine, where the first Philippine flag was unfurled.

Mudpack Festival

Date: June 15-16    Location: Murcia, Negros Occidental

The festival is a symbolic celebration of man’s return to a primitive time when he was closer to nature. It seeks to instill in people the awareness and care of the environment and the use of natural materials in arts and craft. The highlight of this emerging festival which falls on the 22nd of June is a merrymaking with dancers’ faces covered with mudpack and bodies painted with Mambukal clay.Mayor Andrew L.  Hugyaw Festival

Date: June 5-12    Location: Silay City

The weeklong celebration starts with the celebration of “El Cinco de Noviembre”, a one-day bloodless revolution in Silay which caused the surrender of the Spanish civil guards. The series of activities include a food festival, Know Silay Quiz, Ilonggo poetry presentation, agro-industrial fair and days for the multisectoral groups. Special focus in on Kansilay street dance – drama competition participated in by the 16 barangays. It features the “Legend of Kansilay”.
