a scene at Cagayan de Oro’s Night Cafe

Cagayan de Oro’s Night Cafe

Every Friday and Saturday nights, Night café is known to be a crowd drawer place in Cagayan de Oro City. Started in 2004, the city government of Cagayan de Oro converted a large section of the Golden Friendship Park into an open-air restaurant called Night Café.

The Night Café  starts at around 6 PM until 2 AM. It’s a nightlife place at the heart of the city where all sorts of people gather together to dine and unwind.

At the Night Café, you will see all sorts of people…from students to professionals, to merchants , etc.  You will see various kinds of food, from grilled seafood, inasal sold along with hanging rice,  kwek kwek, ballot, barbecue, mani, buko,  etc.

If your trip is shopping, the night café offers a wide array of selections  from china goods, to “ukay-ukay” and much more.

For those who would like to unwind with friends, a band is playing every night starting at 9PM.

While checking the whole place a saw a tent with a sign “Halal”. I learned that this tent is offering “Halal”  food  or Muslim-friendly. One thing which I like most is that all tents selling food are not carrying  bottled water. All bottled waters  are being sold by individual peddlers which means more opportunities for others to earn.

If you’re tired from an office work or tired of walking around, you can easily just sit and get a massage from any of the masseurs offering their services for a small fee.

So the next time you’ll visit Cagayan try to experience the Night Café, I’m sure you will have a Happy Trip.:)
