Getting Fat with Fatboys

Contents

Note: This place is now known as Kix Place , owned and managed by the same owners of Fatboys.

Funky. Hip. Young. Colourful. These are the words that came to my mind when I entered Fatboys Restaurant. Fatboys is a small resto located at 22nd- Aguinaldo Street, Bacolod City. It looks like a house extension that was converted into a restaurant. In fact, one would easily notice an old sala set used in the restaurant. The four dining tables they use were not uniform and you would immediately feel that you’re just at home. But these things also gave the place the character I like. For  me, the place is a perfect hideaway. We went their lunch time and it’s sad that we were the only guests present. It seemed like we owned the place  at that very moment. The ambiance gave us a relaxing feeling making us more at home.

One unusual and noticeable feature of the resto is the wall art made of colorful modeling clay. The colorful clay on the wall was fashioned into several icons and sentences which were mostly amusing.

For our lunch, we ordered grilled pork chop and burger steak. We love the presentation. They used colored plates…but more than the looks , we love the taste of their food. The grilled spareribs were nicely cut. Though it was quite thin and the natural juice of the meat seemed lost, the sweet wine sauce with roasted garlic made it even more delectable. The burger steak with mushroom sauce is another must-try dish of the place. The meat patty is very tender and juicy and the seemingly sweet mushroom sauce made it more appetizing. Aside from that, they also serve desserts.

The price is very reasonable. For the hearty lunch we had, we only spent PhP 390 (2 persons + drinks). I can say that we had a Happy(FOOD) Trip at Fatboys Restaurant. Surely, this won’t be our last.
