GRABCAR IS BACK IN BACOLOD CITY | SAFER THAN EVER

GrabCar stops its operation during the pandemic. Adjusting to the new normal, GrabCar returns to be operating again in places where cases are relatively under control.

In Bacolod City particularly, GrabCar is now back with many changes on its rules that aim to protect the interest of the passengers and the drivers.

Recently, I have tried a couple of times riding GrabCar for some errands. With my recent rides, I made some conversations with the drivers. I took the liberty to gather information regarding their experiences and how they made sure of their safety and passengers’ safety.

These are my observations on the way GrabCar is operating amidst the pandemic.

  • Drivers do not touch your belongings like your luggage, grocery bags, etc. They will open the trunk, and you will be the one to put it in and take it out also after the ride.
  • Only two passengers are allowed inside the car for two-seaters and four for four-seater vehicles. No one is allowed to sit beside the driver. Both passengers should be seated beside the window for them to have ample space in between them.
  • Drivers do disinfect the car after each ride. They also provide alcohol accessible to passengers.
  • Drivers may refuse any passenger not following safety protocols like not wearing a mask and face shield. In the same manner, you may also cancel a GrabCar if you see that the driver is not wearing a mask.
  • You will be refused to ride if you are more than the capacity of the car. For example, you book a two-seater car, and three passengers will be riding.
  • I have also noticed that the driver’s seat is covered with a plastic barrier.

Another change that I noticed with GrabCar is the cashless payment system that they are now implementing. When booking a GrabCar, make sure that you have your credit or debit card. Better yet, you have activated your GrabPay.

I notice that when using GrabPay, you will save more as Grab gives a lower rate for passengers using Grab Pay. For more, please – GrabPay

How to use a GrabCar

  • For first-time users, you may download the play store’s Grab Application. Supply the needed information to complete the setup. Once set up, you are good to go.
  • From the dashboard of Grab, click the car icon.
  • Indicate your pick up and drop off point and click Next. Make sure that you click the right location as the driver may pick you at the wrong place.
  • Choose the payment option. You will have the choice to use your credit or debit cards, but the most convenient is GrabPay.
  • With the application, we’ll find you the nearest driver available.
  • From the dashboard, you will see your driver’s details, location, and estimated arrival time. You will be notified once the driver has arrived at the pickup point.
