The search for the MassKara Queen has long been one of the highlights of Bacolod City’s MassKara Festival, alongside the colourful street and arena dance competitions.
In 2011, the pageant celebrated its 31st edition, with the coronation night held on October 17, 2011, at the University of St. La Salle Gymnasium in Bacolod City.
It proved to be a memorable night for Alexis Danica Drilon, a fourth-year BS Biology student at the University of St. La Salle. Drilon emerged as the MassKara Festival Queen 2011, capturing several special awards along the way. She was crowned by then-Bacolod City Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia at the conclusion of the event.

The story did not end on coronation night.
Alyssa Villarico, who finished Second Runner-Up at MassKara Queen 2011, later represented Bacolod City at Lin-ay sang Negros 2012—and won the crown.
She subsequently joined a national pageant the following year, adding another chapter to her pageant journey.
Her progression from a MassKara Queen runner-up to Lin-ay sang Negros winner also illustrates the close connection between the two pageants and how the MassKara stage provided opportunities that extended well beyond coronation night.
