Whitewater rafting activity has been one of the top extreme water activities one would take in a lifetime. Albeit not as usual as snorkeling and even scuba-diving, this activity is way fun in and thrilling! Feel the rush of your adrenaline as you venture into this outdoor water activity. To help you further, here are some of the safety tips that I could share.
In whatever aspect of white water rafting, may it be in the preparation down to the process, always seek for the advice and suggestions of a professional or even licensed one. This will save you from a lot of trouble as well as the danger if you do it before your first ever adventure. Listen very carefully when given the instructions prior to the activity and the guide’s command while in transit.
Safety should come first in this kind of extreme activity. So, do not reason out that you are a good swimmer and you do not need a life-jacket anymore. Do not ever go on this activity without wearing one because this is one of the essential requirement to join the activity. Of course, lifejacket will always be provided by the tour operators.

Elbow and knee pads are also available if you would like to take extra precaution. Aside from that, a good helmet is also a must since you might accidentally hit your head to something while you are having the wild journey in this activity.
Go for fit and at the same time light clothes as your attire. Make sure that you go away with clothes with heavy designs like ruffles or clothes that made-up of heavy fabric. These types of garments might interfere with the way you move or with the way you perform your duties in the activity. It would be best to wear a rashguard to protect you from sunburn. I wasn’t prepared when I first tried it, hence I got some sunburn after the activity.
In paddling, hold the paddle properly so that you will not worry that it might be taken by the water or you might hit it with something. Just hold it firmly and do not let it control you, you have to be the one in control.
Just stay at the boat at all times even if the water looks calm or whatever because at times, sudden bumps and flow of water happen and you might be in danger if you are not at the boat at that specific moment.

In case something happens, you have to make use of your swimming skills to save yourself! Do not expect that others would put you into their top saving priority because you first have to look after yourself. Learn different swimming techniques so that you can be safe at all times. Of course, you can still go on white water rafting even though you don’t know how to swim with the use of a lifevest.
Someone in charge of the activity would always give signals on when to paddle and to stop, and where to begin gripping or being calm. So, be cautious about those signals beforehand.
If unfortunate things happen, do not ever panic. Just stay calm and try to recall all the precautionary measures discuss with you during the orientation. Through this, you will get to gather your mind and pull yourself together and survive that scene.
An orientation or briefing will be given before the actual activity, listen attentively and remember all the necessary details being discussed by the guide because this will help you a lot later on.
