UNIVERSITY OF BOHOL AND THE BUZZZ CAFE (BEE FARM RESTAURANT)

I’m done with my Guindulman Training and side trips on that part of Bohol Island. This time I’m going back to Tagbilaran to explore other tourist spots of Bohol. My friend Leizel who is a professor at the University of Bohol invited me to give a talk for her students in Entrepreneurship. Of course I said yes for a couple of reasons: first she is my friend way back when she was still a training officer at Lopez Sugar Corporation; second, it’s always an opportunity and a blessing to share my experiences as an entrepreneur with young people…so there goes my talk.

After my talk at the University of Bohol, my friend Liezel treated me for dinner at  The Buzzz Cafe at the   Island City Malls branch of Bohol Bee Farm’s cafe. The Buzzz Cafe offers delicious and nutritious organic food. It has 2 branches in Tagbilaran City, one in Island City Mall while the other is at Galleria Luisa in Gallares St., Tagbilaran City. Bringing me there was a  great idea because I am not yet sure if I will go to Panglao at that time.

While waiting for the food that we ordered, were given complimentary appetizer, the cabcab with a pesto spread and green tomato which comes with squash bread with mango spread. Cabcab is made out of cassava paste, dried and made into taco like crackers.

For my meal, I ordered grilled fish which comes with red rice and organic green salad. And for my drinks, I tried their ginger tea. They also have other drinks like  Fresh Lemongrass Juice and  Organic Malunggay.

The food presentation was great, I immediately love what I saw and can’t help but to take some photos.I just don’t like much the way fish was being cooked…I don’t know, but It has some taste which I don’t quite like. The restaurant is also known for its home-made ice cream so we ordered some for our dessert. I opted for Malunggay ice cream. Their ice cream is also available in several flavors: ube, buko, mango, pandan, tsokolate, and spicy ginger. Seasonal flavors are also available such as avocado, durian, langka, guyabano, kulo, tomato, and dalandan. I truly enjoyed the food as well as the conversation.

  • You're right! The food presentation is lovely! Their homemade ice cream looks yummy, too! I'll keep this resto in mind when we visit Bohol again.

  • I hoave never been to Bohol yet but my family and I are planing to visit the next time we go to the Philippines.

  • Kudos to you Jojo for sharing your knowledge to the students. The best way to inspire the youth about entrepreneurship is to talk about your journey and start them young.

The organic restaurant is something I'd like to try someday. I'm intrigued by their red rice, cabcab and the malunggay ice cream. That (ice cream) will be a hit here in the US if exported!

  • Looks like you had fun on your trip! The food looks delicious especially the ice creams!
