Panal Reef, Carbin Reef, Suyac Island Travel Guide

Just when you thought that you’d had enough of all the beautiful things that Negros Occidental has to offer, wait, there’s more.
With its not so close distance from the city center, its remoteness served as an advantage since it had become a secluded, unexplored, and reserved haven. Aside from the distance factor, the strict rules being implemented by the local tourism of the place facilitated a much reserved and better environment. With its total covered area of 32,000 hectares, a lot of places or spots here are worthy of one’s visit. Recently, as more and more people get to know about the hidden gems, the place is beginning to establish its name as a tourist destination, most importantly for those who are beach enthusiasts.
Carbin Reef, Panal Reef, and Suyac Island are just some of the most visited places here. Though these are all highly recommended by the local tourism department, they still share a fair share of differences as to the aspect of beauty and natural resources.
The most visited of all is the Carbin reef, and when it has become more so full of visitors, they then recommend to people to go to Panal Reef as an alternative. Thus, visiting other places or island is also possible for as long as you inform your local guide and you pay the minimal necessary fee.
Panal reef is consist of a long stretch of the white sand bar which highlights the clear water of the reef. During low tide, the beach is still submerged in water but only in a minimal depth. As a coralline island, the sand may not be very powdery and white, but brittles of corrals are evident as you walk. Thus, it is highly recommended that you visit during the low tide season so that you could all the more appreciate its beauty. Also, another activity that you can enjoy here is snorkeling for there are little marine creatures underwater. Being submerged in the water can give you a better perspective of what real beauty is all about. Walking towards the end of the sand stretch, you will be greeted with a watchtower which allows you to stay for the entire day for a minimal fee only. Go upstairs, and have a fantastic view of the whole island! Chairs and tables are also available in the area for your convenience.
Carbin reef on the other hand, though being visited by a lot of visitors, is also beautiful in its ways. The white sand, the natural beauty of the environment, the clear water, everything is simply perfect! Visitors are limited to 70 pax per day, so if you happen to arrive late afternoon, it is possible that the guide will lead you to the nearby reefs. Activities such as snorkeling are also available here. So, if you want to meet those tiny and cute marine creatures, you’re in the right place.
Suyac Island is a mangrove forest, so it is in a way different from Panal and Carbin reefs. Located here is the oldest and at the same time, biggest sonneratia in the entire province. Thus, being in this place is much on appreciating the beauty of the natural environment and being aware of the ecosystem in general. If I may say, visiting this place during high tide is highly recommended for a lot of other mangroves are much visible by then.
