Staycation Ideas | Planning a Perfect Getaway

Want to take a break from the daily grind? Don’t have the time or budget to jet off somewhere exotic? Then a staycation may be just what you’re looking for. It offers much-needed ‘vacation’ time without the stresses of long-distance travel, making it the perfect way to relax and reconnect with loved ones. If this sounds just what you need, take a look at our tips for planning the perfect staycation.

Staycation Ideas

Create a budget (and stick to it!)

Just like you would if you were organizing a two-week holiday, it’s important to set yourself a realistic budget. This is something that many people forget to do during a staycation – which can result in accidental overspending. Figure out how much you can realistically spend during your time off without putting yourself in the red. Then stick to it. If cash is tight and you want to treat your family to an unforgettable event or experience, then there are alternative payment options you could consider. But don’t forget – it’s essential to make sure you can keep up any repayments before you borrow from a lender.

Plan your days in advance

Have you ever had a day off work and spent half of it deciding what you want to do – only to then realize there’s not enough time left to do anything? You’re not alone! Avoid wasting your precious time off by planning activities in advance. For instance, if you really need some R&R during your staycation, you could book a spa day a few weeks ahead. Or if you want to get out into nature, a hike through the hills may be ideal. Decide where you want to explore, how to get there and the length of the journey so you plan adequate time in the day.

Look for offers and discounts

Once you’ve thought about what you want to do, take some time for a little research. You can often take advantage of discounted tickets and reduced-price days out by booking in advance – giving you more money to spend on other things! For instance, Groupon often has great deals on activities, from supercar driving experiences to hot air balloon rides, so there is something for everyone. Or, the attraction itself may offer deals if you book online in advance, so it’s worth checking out their website too.

Planning is essential if you want to make the most of your staycation. Prioritize things that you wouldn’t normally have the time to enjoy and you’ll go back to work feeling refreshed and energized. What’s on your staycation ‘must-do’ list?
