As a travel enthusiast and one of the judges at the Pintaflores Festival Queen Competition in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, I can confidently say that this event is a vibrant celebration of culture, beauty, and artistry that should be on every traveler’s radar. Held annually during the Pintaflores Festival, which happens every first week of November, this competition is one of the highlights of the festivities, showcasing the talents of young women representing various local schools.
When you attend the Pintaflores Festival Queen Competition, prepare for an exhilarating experience filled with stunning visuals and captivating performances. Each participating school selects its own queen, who embodies beauty and cultural pride. The contestants don elaborate costumes inspired by local flowers, such as sunflowers, roses, and the stunning Stargazer lily, which was particularly evident in the costume of this year’s winner. As one of the judges, I had the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the creativity and dedication each contestant brought to the stage. The atmosphere was electric as they showcased their talents through dance performances that beautifully integrated traditional tribal elements. The rhythmic beats and colorful costumes created an unforgettable spectacle that genuinely captured the essence of the community.
This year’s competition was fierce, with several standout performances making it challenging to choose just one queen. Ultimately, the Pintaflores Festival Queen 2024 title was awarded to Princess Mae Marinay from Tribu Valmoradoslupedad, whose breathtaking performance and captivating costume earned her top honors. The first runner-up was Virgeria Mae Jagdon from Tribu Euzkara. She also took home the Best Festival Queen Costume award, showcasing her beautiful floral-inspired outfit adorned with Stargazer lilies. As the second runner-up, we had Julie Vie Bula from Tribu Sumilaw, whose unique interpretation of the festival theme showcased creativity and spirit. Tribu Busilak followed closely as third runner-up and was recognized for its energy and enthusiasm. At the same time, Tribu Lumad Sipawaynon secured fourth runner-up with a presentation highlighting cultural elements that resonated with many spectators. Rounding out was Tribu Bagnao Uno as the fifth runner-up, who demonstrated impressive teamwork and dedication throughout their performance.
