Coop Ocean View Resort

In the serene Barangay Poblacion, Antique, lies a hidden treasure known as Coop Ocean View Resort within the charming Town of Barbaza. As a travel blogger, my schedule is often packed with classes, training, and professional engagements. In search of a delightful getaway, the place, owned by the Barbaza Multi-Purpose Cooperative, seemed like the perfect choice, boasting a pristine beach property and many enticing amenities. This trip served as my break from the bustling city life of Bacolod City and included an exciting role as an invited seminar speaker.
After an arduous journey of over 8 hours from Bacolod City, I eagerly looked forward to rest. Coop Ocean View Resort didn’t disappoint, as we were welcomed with freshly furnished rooms that exuded a comforting scent. The resort offers various accommodation options, including air-conditioned rooms, glamping rooms, and cozy bamboo cottages. However, the only minor downside was the size of the pillows, which were not up to standard, slightly affecting the overall sleep quality.
The destination is an idyllic retreat, so it’s worth considering its location for easy travel planning. The journey from Aklan can take over two hours, making it essential to plan accordingly, especially if traveling with young children. Nevertheless, the resort’s serene surroundings and peaceful ambiance more than makeup for the travel time, offering a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
At Coop Ocean View Resort, dining in their casual restaurant is a cherished experience, complemented by picturesque ocean views. The resort’s bar is well-stocked with a wide range of beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and hosts weekend entertainment to keep the atmosphere lively and festive.
Moreover, the resort boasts a Convention Hall accommodating up to 150 persons, ideal for meetings, seminars, workshops, and conferences. However, it’s essential to note that the Convention Hall is more of an open space, which can get humid during the daytime. While this outdoor setting adds charm to the resort, it may require thoughtful planning for events during warm weather. Fortunately, they also offer air-conditioned rooms and glamping options for those preferring a more controlled environment. Additionally, the availability of Wi-Fi throughout the resort ensures guests stay connected.
The true highlight of our stay was the resort’s beach, offering breathtaking ocean views and a refreshing sea breeze. A mere 1 kilometer away lies the renowned Batabat Coral Reef Marine Reserve, a haven for nature enthusiasts like myself. Exploring the vibrant corals, fish, and marine life was an unforgettable experience. While the beachfront may not be the most inviting, the resort’s enticing pool provides a perfect alternative to bask in relaxation.
As a trainer, I was privileged to conduct a teambuilding seminar for the Aklan Catholic College at the resort. The open space provided an unconventional yet stimulating atmosphere for our activities. Participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and I was caught up in the camaraderie and laughter. However, it is worth noting that some attendees may find it challenging to concentrate due to the open setting. Nevertheless, the resort does offer a closed, air-conditioned room for smaller groups, catering to a more focused environment.
Coop Ocean View Resort in Barbaza, Antique, is a delightful destination for families and friends seeking a tranquil escape. The resort offers an all-encompassing experience of nature’s beauty, from its well-maintained rooms to the mesmerizing marine reserve. While improvements could be made regarding event planning in the open space and some minor issues with amenities, the warm ambiance and friendly staff more than compensate for any shortcomings.
During our stay, we encountered minor hiccups, such as the lack of provided basic kits and pillows not meeting the standard size. Additionally, the staff appeared to lack proper training in hotel service. On one particular night, the buffet service ran out of food for those at the tail end of the line.
Our stay at the place was enchanting, leaving us with cherished memories that will last a lifetime. The resort’s commitment to continuous improvement and delightful amenities make it a destination we’d gladly return to. With its serene surroundings, beautiful marine reserve, and warm-hearted staff, the place is a gem worth exploring for any avid traveler seeking tranquility amidst nature’s splendor.
