Freska Seafoods Restaurant

If you’re exploring Bacolod City and are in the mood for seafood, Freska is a spot worth checking out. Located on Aquarius Street in Barangay Estefania, it’s a bit away from the bustling city center, but that only adds to its charm. For those coming from the Megaworld Upper East or Lopues East areas, just head towards Barangay Granada, and you’ll quickly find this inviting restaurant.
When my friends and I arrived at Freska, we were greeted by a spacious parking lot, which is always a relief when dining out. The restaurant has a large, well-ventilated, air-conditioned dining area—perfect for larger groups or celebrations. The ambiance felt relaxed and welcoming, making settling in for an enjoyable evening easy.
Instead of ordering directly from the menu, we selected our seafood from the fresh offerings in the restaurant’s front area. This approach allowed us to see exactly what we were getting, adding excitement to our dining experience. We decided on several dishes: grilled liempo (pork belly), squid adobo made with its ink, fish kinilaw (Filipino ceviche), and fish tinola (a traditional Filipino soup). When our orders arrived, I was eager to dig in. The squid adobo was a highlight for me; it was tender and flavorful, showcasing the rich taste of the ink. The kinilaw was refreshing and paired nicely with our other dishes.

Now, about the tinola—while it was well-prepared, it didn’t quite match my taste preferences. They mentioned using batwan for flavoring, but I found it wasn’t as sour as I typically enjoy in a tinola or sinigang. Instead of the expected tanginess, this version had a milder flavor profile, including hints of calamansi. My friends seemed to enjoy it just fine, but I preferred something with more punch.
The service at Freska was decent. Our food arrived promptly, and the staff checked in on us without being overly intrusive. The spacious layout of the restaurant contributed to a comfortable dining atmosphere where we could enjoy our meals and conversation. While we were promised a complimentary lato (seaweed salad), we learned that their seaweed was no longer fresh that evening and wouldn’t serve it. Although slightly disappointing, I appreciated their honesty about not serving something that wouldn’t meet their quality standards.

Regarding pricing, Freska’s offerings were slightly higher than other seafood restaurants in Bacolod City. However, the prices weren’t excessively high; they felt reasonable, given the quality of the ingredients and the seafood’s freshness.
My experience at Freska Seafoods Restaurant was enjoyable but not necessarily spectacular. It’s a solid choice if you’re looking for fresh seafood in a spacious and comfortable setting. If you’re considering another dining option in Bacolod City, Freska offers quality dishes that can satisfy your seafood cravings. Whether celebrating a special occasion or enjoying dinner with friends, Freska Seafood Restaurant provides a pleasant atmosphere and decent service. So, if you are in Bacolod City and want to try something new, consider stopping by this hidden gem!
