
A DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS AT D’ COFFEE GROUND HOUSE

That was a day before Christmas when I visited the clinic of a friend, Dr. Dominic Alojado at Mountain View Subdivision, Bacolod City. It was lunch time when we finished, so I invited him for lunch. While we also see each other in some social gatherings, we haven’t talked that much so I thought catching up over lunch would be good. Both of us would like to stay away as much as possible to some fatty food, but we don’t want to spend more time on the street for the traffic. So we thought of trying a new café just a few meters from his clinic, the D’ Coffee Ground House.

When we arrive at the D’ Coffee Ground House there were no guests so we were attended immediately. The place is basically modest and small. I’ve heard that the place is frequented mostly by young adults and also heard of some good words about their food. Dr. Alojado ordered for Bistek Tagalog which comes with rice, while yours truly ordered for Seasonal Beef. Well, I haven’t tried their Bistek but its presentation and portioning were quite okay. By the looks of it Bistek Tagalog which costs PHP 149.00. The Seasonal Beef costs PhP 169, its just like Bistek but this one has mushroom, young corn and fresh mangoes in it. I like the mangoes in it as it gives the dish a different taste and texture.

As we were thinking for our drinks, our attention was brought to their line of shakes which come in a nice presentation. We grab their offer that for every order of their entrée you will just add PhP50.00 and you will have their Mud Pie Coffee Milk Shake which comes in a mason jar. The shake originally cost PHP 105.00. I didn’t ask for the ingredients, but by the taste of it seemed that it has some crushed oreo cookies, coffee of course and vanilla ice cream topped with a cream and chocolate powder. We were able to finish our order so the food was quite okay. While the price was relatively okay, I should say that they can still lower it down considering their place. I won’t hesitate coming back when I have the opportunity and hop to try more offering from their menu.
