MAGIC ISLAND RESORT ,GUIMARAS ISLAND

I was invited to conduct a Team Building Seminar for the Barangay  Officials of Brgy. Taloc and Brgy. Calumangan, Bago City. The seminar was sponsored by Disileria Bago, Inc. as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  Program.

Apart from the fact that team building is one of my favorite training programs to conduct, what made me excited was the venue of the seminar, the Magic Island Resort located in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.

Magic Island Resort is one of the islets in  Guimaras which is an island  province in the Western Visayas Region, Philippines. Among the smallest provinces in the Philippines, Guimaras’  capital is Jordan. The island is situated in the Panay Gulf, between the islands of Panay and Negros. To the northwest is the province of Iloilo and to the southeast is Negros Occidental.

One of the shortest routes  to go to Guimaras from Bacolod City is by taking a barge in Pulupandan Port. Pulupandan and Guimaras are being served by Everport Shipping Corporation.

We left Bacolod City at around 7 AM for Pulupandan as we need to catch the 9AM trip. Pulapandan and Sibunag trip would require about 1 hr.

When we arrived at Sibunag Port, 2 vans owned by the Magic Island Resort were already waiting for us. This was part of the package  as the resort would offer a complimentary shuttle from Sibunag Port to Magic Island Resort if you sustain a group of at east 15. From Sibunag, we still moved at about 45 minutes to get to the jump off spot to get to the Island. From the mainland , Magic Island has to be traveled by a small motorized pump boat.

Finally, we reached the Magic Island just in time for lunch. Magic Island’s package of PhP 1,500/person includes 3 meals and 2 simple snacks and sharing accommodations.

The Magic Island Resort is composed of 2 islets. On the main Islet, you will see  the main restaurant some cottages and a small pool. They have  decent air-conditioned rooms and clean comfort rooms.  We were assigned on the Small Islet which was good because we were the only guests on the place. They have small gathering area wherein we had our teambuilding. The place was not really an ideal venue for other types of training as it was just a covered place but doesn’t have the proper feature of a training venue. As with our Teambuilding , it was just fine.  However,for some other purposes like short meeting, a personal reflection,intimate bonding, etc. the place might also come useful.

Magic Island  Resort is still on the process of improving their place. As of this writing, I should say that they still lack some amenities and other features to make one’s visit a bit worthy. They don’t even have television in their rooms. I should say, the place is just good for a one time visit , an overnight the most. Apart from their small pool from the main resort, you have nothing to do in the resort. How I wish they hav some kayaks or some other water adventure facilities which one can enjoy when vsiting the place.

One thing which excites me a bit was the Island hopping which we did the following day, before we went home. Guimaras Island is blessed with beautiful islets and rocks and the mangroves around the mainland was amazing. How I wish we had more time to do the island hopping.

After 2 hours of island hopping we rushed to go back to the resort for our breakfast and to prepare to go home as we have to catch the ferry schedule back to Negros Island.
