Bacolod Hotels on Tripadvisor: What Travelers Really Say Before You Book
Contents
A personal look at Bacolod Hotels on Tripadvisor , based primarily on traveler reviews
As someone who lives in Bacolod and enjoys discovering places around the city, I have always been interested in what other travelers say about our local hotels and accommodations.
I also try to write reviews myself whenever I can. When I stay somewhere and have the opportunity, I share my experience because I believe firsthand feedback can be useful to other travelers.
But let me make one thing clear before we begin:
I have not stayed in all of these properties.
Some of the hotels and accommodations featured in this article are places I have personally experienced, while others are still on my list to try. I have therefore not personally reviewed every property mentioned here.
For this particular article, I went through the current Tripadvisor listings and traveler reviews to see what guests are actually saying about these properties.
So when you read that guests liked a hotel’s pool, found the rooms comfortable, complained about the air-conditioning, praised the staff, or had concerns about breakfast, those observations come from Tripadvisor contributors—not necessarily from me personally.
I want to be transparent about that distinction.
This is not a list of hotels I am personally recommending based on stays in every property. It is my attempt to organize and make sense of the traveler feedback that Tripadvisor has accumulated about Bacolod accommodations.
Why I arranged the list by number of reviews
You may notice that this is not a conventional “Top Hotels in Bacolod” list.
I am not putting the hotel with the highest rating automatically at number one.
Instead, I arranged the properties according to the number of Tripadvisor reviews, from the largest review base to the smallest.
I did this because I think the number of reviews provides useful context.
For example, a hotel with a 4.9/5 rating from 211 reviews certainly has an impressive score. But another hotel with a 4.4/5 rating from 939 reviews has a much larger body of traveler experiences behind it.
Neither automatically means one hotel is better than the other.
It simply gives us a different way of looking at the data.
SEDA CAPITOL CENTRAL : I’ve conducted several training programs for my clients at this hotel and attended countless events here over the years. I’ve also enjoyed sampling their food whenever they introduce new offerings. But despite all those visits, I’ve never actually stayed in one of their rooms here in Bacolod. Hopefully, that’s something I can finally experience soon.
1. Seda Capitol Central | Tripadvisor: #3 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.4/5 | 939 reviews
Seda Capitol Central currently has the largest number of Tripadvisor reviews among the properties included in this article, with 939.
Tripadvisor places it at #3 among 43 hotels in Bacolod.

What are guests actually saying?
Location:
Location is one of the hotel’s strongest points. Tripadvisor gives it a 4.8/5 location score, and guests frequently mention its accessibility to the Capitol area, Ayala Mall and nearby restaurants.
Rooms:
Recent reviews commonly describe the rooms as clean, modern and comfortable. Some guests specifically mention comfortable beds and well-maintained rooms. There are also older reviews mentioning room-condition concerns, which is worth remembering because the hotel may have changed since those reviews were written.
Breakfast:
Breakfast receives considerable attention from reviewers. Recent guests have praised the buffet selection and variety, although individual experiences naturally differ.
Pool:
The rooftop pool is frequently mentioned. Some guests enjoy the setting and views, while there have also been comments concerning the condition of the pool area. So I would describe the pool feedback as generally positive but not completely uniform.
Service:
This is another strong point. Recent guests frequently describe the staff as professional, attentive and accommodating.
My take
Seda is one of those properties where the large review volume matters. With 939 reviews, there is a considerable amount of traveler feedback to examine. The strongest recurring themes are location, service, cleanliness, breakfast and room comfort.
Important: The observations above are primarily from Tripadvisor. I am not presenting all of them as my personal experience.
Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod is a property I have come to know quite well over the years. I’ve stayed in their rooms, sampled their food several times, and attended countless events at the hotel. The property has also been a wonderful supporter of the Negrense Bloggers, where I serve as one of the officers. Every year, Park Inn has generously sponsored our Christmas party, making the hotel an important part of our organization’s annual tradition.
And my connection with the hotel goes beyond dining and events—I’ve actually held two art exhibitions at Park Inn Bacolod, and I was very pleased with the support they extended to my work. So when I talk about Park Inn, I’m not simply talking about a hotel I happened to visit once. It’s a property I’ve experienced in many different ways—as a guest, diner, event participant, trainer, artist, and blogger.
2. Park Inn by Radisson Bacolod | Tripadvisor: #2 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.6/5 | 550 reviews
Park Inn has one of the strongest combinations of high rating and substantial review volume in Bacolod.
Tripadvisor currently gives it 4.6/5 and ranks it #2 among 43 hotels.

What guests are saying
Location:
The connection to SM City Bacolod is probably one of the most practical features mentioned by guests. Travelers repeatedly appreciate being close to shopping and dining.
Rooms:
The room rating is 4.5/5. Guests commonly describe the rooms as clean and comfortable.
Pool:
The pool receives positive comments, particularly from families. Some reviews describe it as relaxing and suitable for children. However, there are also reviews mentioning periods when the pool was undergoing maintenance.
Breakfast:
The buffet is frequently discussed positively, including comments about the variety of food.
Service:
Service is rated 4.6/5. Many guests praise the staff, although there are also individual complaints concerning check-in delays.
My take
The Tripadvisor picture is quite consistent: strong location, cleanliness, rooms and service, with occasional operational issues reported by individual guests.
L’Fisher Hotel has always been one of my favorite hotels in Bacolod City, and it has been part of both my personal and professional life for many years. I’ve conducted countless training programs for my clients here, as well as several training programs for the hotel’s own staff. Over the years, many of the dining staff have gotten to know me—what I like, what I order, and even what I need before I ask. That kind of familiarity and personalized service is something I truly appreciate.
The photo above is from our latest celebration at L’Fisher, a party we organized for our friend CG Hisona. It’s another reminder of how this hotel has become part of my journey—not just as a venue for work, but also as a place where I’ve celebrated friendships, milestones, and countless memorable moments.
3. L’Fisher Hotel | Tripadvisor: #9 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.6/5 | 481 reviews
L’Fisher has a long Tripadvisor history, with 481 reviews.
Its 3.6/5 rating is considerably lower than the first two hotels, making the actual review comments particularly important.
See L’Fisher reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Location:
Location is one of its strongest categories, with Tripadvisor giving it 4.3/5.
Air-conditioning:
This is an example of the kind of detail I wanted to capture in this article. Some reviewers have specifically complained about older or noisy air-conditioning, including one guest who said the noise affected sleep.
That does not mean every room has the same problem—but it is a specific concern that appears in the review history.
Rooms:
Room ratings are more moderate at 3.5/5. Reviews include both positive experiences and complaints about aging fixtures, bathrooms and maintenance.
Pool:
The rooftop pool is one of the property’s recognizable features. Reviews about the pool are mixed, with some guests enjoying it and others expressing concerns about condition or maintenance.
Breakfast:
Interestingly, some reviewers who criticized other aspects of the property still praised the breakfast buffet.
My take
L’Fisher’s Tripadvisor history is mixed. The location continues to be a strong point, but the review record contains more discussion about aging facilities and maintenance than some of the higher-rated properties.
4. Circle Inn – Hotel & Suites | Tripadvisor: #8 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.7/5 | 466 reviews
Circle Inn has 466 reviews and a 3.7/5 average rating.
See Circle Inn reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Pool:
This is one of the hotel’s more frequently discussed amenities. Circle Inn has an outdoor pool and rooms with direct pool access. Reviewers specifically mention the convenience of being able to access the pool easily, and some families describe children enjoying it.
Air-conditioning:
Here again, the actual review matters. One reviewer specifically described the air-conditioning as very cold, which was considered a positive during the stay.
That is different from simply writing “Circle Inn has air-conditioning.” It tells us what at least one guest actually experienced.
Rooms:
The room rating is 3.9/5. Reviews include descriptions of standard but clean rooms.
Staff:
There are positive comments about friendly and accommodating staff, including assistance from front-desk and security personnel.
Value:
Value is one of the hotel’s better-performing categories at around 4.1/5.
My take
The Tripadvisor picture suggests a practical, relatively good-value property, with the pool and direct pool-access rooms standing out. The overall rating is moderate, so travelers should still read recent reviews for the specific room and dates they are considering.
O Hotel has also been part of my personal and professional journey. I’ve stayed in their rooms and conducted several training programs here for my clients and affiliated organizations. But what makes this hotel particularly memorable to me is that this was where I had my dissertation proposal defense years ago, when I was still pursuing my PhD at UNO-R. Fast-forward to today, and it feels like a full-circle moment.
The photo above was taken during a meeting with my advisees from La Consolacion College Bacolod, where we were working on their dissertation for their Doctor in Business Administration (DBA) program. Years ago, I was the one sitting on the other side of the table defending my dissertation; now, I’m here helping the next generation of doctoral students prepare theirs. Life really does have a funny way of bringing you back to where you started—this time, as the adviser.
5. O Hotel | Tripadvisor: #7 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.2/5 | 270 reviews
O Hotel has approximately 270 Tripadvisor reviews and a 4.2/5 rating.

What guests are saying
Rooms and cleanliness:
Guests frequently describe the rooms as clean and comfortable. Cleanliness is one of the hotel’s stronger subratings.
Beds:
Comfortable beds are mentioned in recent reviews.
Staff:
Service scores well, with guests commonly describing staff as helpful and accommodating.
Food and breakfast:
Recent reviews also discuss the food and buffet breakfast positively.
Atmosphere:
Some guests specifically describe the hotel as calm and comfortable.
My take
O Hotel has a relatively balanced review profile, with rooms, cleanliness, service and value all performing reasonably well.
The photo above was taken during the relaunching and rebranding of Go Hotels Bacolod, bringing back memories for me because I actually stayed here many years ago, when the hotel was still very new, as a blogger. Since then, I’ve also had the chance to stay at several Go Hotels properties in other destinations, so I’ve seen how the brand has grown and evolved over the years.
Coming back for its relaunch felt a little nostalgic—from being one of the bloggers who experienced the hotel when it was new to returning years later to witness its new chapter. It’s always interesting to see how a property changes while still carrying memories of where it started.
6. Go Hotels Plus Bacolod | Tripadvisor: #10 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.5/5 | 248 reviews
Go Hotels Plus has 248 reviews and a 3.5/5 rating.
See Go Hotels Plus reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Location:
The hotel is beside Robinsons Place Bacolod City Walk. Location scores 4.3/5, and convenience to shopping and dining is a recurring positive.
Rooms:
Guests frequently mention clean rooms and comfortable beds, although room size and amenities also appear in the more critical reviews.
Staff:
There are repeated positive comments about accommodating staff.
Wi-Fi and amenities:
Some reviews mention Wi-Fi and basic room amenities as areas where the experience was less satisfactory.
Room setup:
There are individual complaints about missing toiletries or incomplete room setup.
My take
The reviews suggest that Go Hotels Plus is primarily appreciated for location and value, while the guest experience concerning room amenities and service consistency appears more mixed.
AVENUE SUITES HOTEL & SPA | I stayed at this hotel when it was still new, as part of a blogger exchange deal where I was hosted in exchange for writing about and featuring the property. It was one of my early hotel experiences as a blogger, but I never got the chance to experience the hotel again after that.
7. Avenue Suites Hotel & Spa | Tripadvisor: 3.0/5 | about 220 reviews
Avenue Suites has a substantial review history, with around 220 Tripadvisor reviews.
Because Tripadvisor’s category/ranking presentation can differ from the main hotel list, I would focus here on the rating and review volume rather than assigning a hotel-category rank unless Tripadvisor explicitly provides one in the current listing.
See Avenue Suites reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
The review history is mixed, with travelers discussing the central location, room condition, service and value. The relatively low 3.0/5 overall score indicates that the accumulated experiences are considerably more divided than those of the higher-rated properties above.
Because the reviews span different periods, readers should pay particular attention to recent reviews before drawing conclusions about the current condition of the property.
8. Ong Bun Pension House | Tripadvisor: No hotel-category rank | 4.5/5 | 214 reviews
Ong Bun is included in this article because it has a substantial 214 Tripadvisor reviews and a strong 4.5/5 rating.
However, Tripadvisor does not list this property under the hotel category used for the Bacolod hotel ranking. Therefore, I am deliberately not assigning it an artificial hotel rank.
See Ong Bun reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Location:
The central location is frequently appreciated, particularly by travelers looking for access to the heart of Bacolod.
Value:
Affordability is one of the recurring attractions.
Rooms:
Recent reviews include positive comments about clean and comfortable rooms. However, the older review history contains complaints involving bathrooms and room conditions.
Staff:
Recent reviews frequently describe the staff as accommodating and helpful.
My take
Ong Bun is a good example of why recent reviews matter. Its overall 4.5 score is strong, but its older reviews contain concerns that don’t always match the more recent feedback.
And again, I am not assigning it a hotel rank because Tripadvisor itself does not place it in that hotel category.
Citadines Bacolod has been part of my hospitality journey even before the property was actually built. I remember blogging about the development while it was still in the planning and construction stage, so it was exciting to eventually see the property come to life. Since then, I’ve attended numerous events and parties here, sampled their food several times, and followed the property as it became one of the newer additions to Bacolod’s hotel scene.
I also have a funny personal connection with Citadines because I actually won their vlogging competition years ago! The prize was a complimentary room stay, which sounded like a pretty great reward—BUT I had to fly to Manila to redeem it. 😂 So, ironically, I won a hotel stay but never got to enjoy the room because the cost of getting to Manila made the “free” stay a little less free. Hahaha! And here’s the funny part: even after all these years, I still haven’t stayed in a Citadines room in Bacolod. I’ve attended their events, enjoyed their food, blogged about the property, and even won their vlogging competition—but the actual room experience remains unfinished business. Perhaps it’s finally time to correct that!
9. Citadines Bacolod City | Tripadvisor: #1 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.9/5 | 211 reviews
Citadines currently has the highest Tripadvisor rating among the hotels in the main Bacolod hotel category, at 4.9/5, and is ranked #1 of 43.
See Citadines reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Staff:
This is arguably the strongest recurring theme. Guests repeatedly praise the staff for being attentive, friendly and helpful.
Cleanliness:
Cleanliness receives exceptionally strong feedback.
Rooms:
Reviews frequently describe rooms as modern, clean and comfortable.
Food:
Guests also mention the property’s restaurants and food positively.
Pool:
The pool receives positive comments, including from families. Some guests specifically mention enjoying the pool as part of their stay.
My take
Citadines has an impressive 4.9/5, but remember: its 211 reviews are far fewer than Seda’s 939.
That doesn’t diminish the rating. It simply provides context.
10. Acacia Hotel Bacolod | Tripadvisor: #4 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.5/5 | 200 reviews
Acacia has 200 Tripadvisor reviews and a 4.5/5 rating.
See Acacia Hotel reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms:
Recent reviewers describe the rooms as clean, spacious and comfortable.
Pool:
The wave pool is one of Acacia’s distinctive features. Family reviews frequently mention enjoying it. However, there are also individual comments concerning pool maintenance.
Breakfast:
Breakfast receives generally positive comments, although at least one reviewer noted occasions when food trays were not replenished quickly enough.
Staff:
Service is one of the stronger areas, with many positive comments about staff.
My take
Acacia’s review record is generally favorable, particularly regarding rooms, cleanliness, staff and family facilities, although the pool and food-service comments show that experiences are not completely uniform.
My room experience at this hotel was way back, so I honestly can’t remember much about it anymore. But Sugarland holds a special place in my heart. This was where we used to have our weekly meetings when I was still active with the Toastmasters Club. Some of the veteran waiters here have also known me for years, and whenever I come back, it feels a little like coming home.
The photo above was taken during our latest dining experience at the hotel, this time with three of my dissertation advisees from La Consolacion College Bacolod, as we met to work on their dissertation. It’s nice to return to a place that has been part of different chapters of my life—first through Toastmasters, and now through my work with my doctoral advisees.
11. Sugarland Hotel | Tripadvisor: #6 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.8/5 | about 188 reviews
Sugarland has around 188 reviews and a 3.8/5 rating.
See Sugarland reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms:
Recent reviews describe rooms as clean, spacious and comfortable.
Staff:
Guests frequently mention courteous and helpful staff.
Breakfast and food:
Food and breakfast appear regularly in reviews, with several positive comments but not a completely uniform response.
Pool:
The property has a pool, but the available review evidence does not show a strong enough consistent pattern to call it either exceptional or problematic.
Value:
Value scores around 4.1/5, stronger than the overall rating.
My take
The Tripadvisor record suggests that cleanliness, staff and value are among Sugarland’s better-performing areas.
12. Palmas del Mar Conference-Resort Hotel | Tripadvisor: about 187 reviews | 3.8/5
Palmas del Mar is included because it has a substantial Tripadvisor review history, although it is more accurately described as a conference-resort property than a conventional city hotel.
See Palmas del Mar reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Reviews discuss the resort environment, rooms, pool and food, with experiences varying from positive family or leisure stays to criticisms concerning facilities and maintenance.
Because this property serves a somewhat different purpose from a downtown business hotel, its reviews should also be interpreted within that context.
13. The Suites at Calle Nueva | Tripadvisor: No hotel-category rank | 4.2/5 | about 163 reviews
The Suites at Calle Nueva is another property that Tripadvisor categorizes separately from the main hotel ranking.
It has approximately 163 reviews and a 4.2/5 rating.
See The Suites at Calle Nueva reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms:
Recent reviewers mention relatively large rooms and comfortable accommodations. One reviewer specifically noted that the air-conditioning and television were working properly.
Location:
Convenience to central Bacolod and nearby shopping is a recurring positive.
Breakfast:
Breakfast receives mixed but generally useful comments. Some appreciate having breakfast included, while others describe the selection as limited.
Staff:
Friendly service is a recurring positive.
Value:
Value is one of the stronger subratings.
My take
The Suites appears to appeal to travelers looking for space, location and value, rather than a conventional luxury-hotel experience.
Because Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel & Residences is near my place, I used to spend quite a bit of time here, especially when I was writing. Back when they still had their buffet breakfast, it was one of those convenient places where I could linger, have something to eat, and work on my writing. I’ve also stayed here once, way back, although that room experience was already quite some time ago.
Over the years, I’ve attended several events here and also conducted several training programs for my client companies at the hotel. So my connection with Planta Centro goes beyond simply being a nearby hotel—it has been a familiar place for writing, dining, training, events, and one memorable stay.
14. Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel & Residences | Tripadvisor: #15 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 3.3/5 | about 162 reviews
Planta Centro has around 162 Tripadvisor reviews and a 3.3/5 average rating.
See Planta Centro reviews on Tripadvisor
What guests are saying
Rooms:
Reviews are mixed. Some guests describe rooms as comfortable and clean, while others describe an older or dated feel.
Air-conditioning:
There is not enough consistent review evidence to characterize the air-conditioning as either a major strength or recurring problem. So I would not make a claim beyond the fact that air-conditioning is provided.
Pool:
One reviewer specifically described the pool water as clean and noted that it was not crowded during that stay. That is useful firsthand feedback, but it should not be interpreted as proof that the pool is always uncrowded or always in the same condition.
Breakfast:
Breakfast reviews are mixed. Some guests appreciate the complimentary breakfast, while others criticize the selection or taste.
Internet:
Internet reliability appears as a specific concern in some reviews.
My take
Planta Centro has a more mixed Tripadvisor profile, with reasonable comments about some facilities and service alongside recurring criticism about the property’s older feel and certain operational issues.
15. Business Inn | Tripadvisor: about 118 reviews | 3.3/5
Business Inn has a smaller review base than the properties above, with around 118 Tripadvisor reviews.
What guests are saying
The review history discusses its central location, rooms, staff, food and value. As with several older Bacolod properties, reviews span different periods, so the most recent comments are particularly important when assessing present-day room and facility conditions.
See Business Inn reviews on Tripadvisor
16. L’Fisher Chalet | Tripadvisor: about 115 reviews | 3.8/5
L’Fisher Chalet has a smaller review history than the main L’Fisher Hotel, with around 115 reviews.
It should therefore be treated as a separate property and not as simply another name for the main hotel.
What guests are saying
Reviews discuss the rooms, location, service and overall value, with experiences varying between positive stays and concerns about property condition.
Because there are fewer reviews, I would be particularly cautious about making broad conclusions from the overall score.
17. 11th Street Bed & Breakfast Tripadvisor: #4 of 33 B&Bs/Inns | 4.0/5 | 111 reviews
11th Street is categorized by Tripadvisor as a B&B/Inn rather than part of the main hotel ranking.
What guests are saying
Reviews generally discuss its location, rooms, value and service. Its value rating is relatively strong, while the room experience is somewhat more moderate.
See 11th Street reviews on Tripadvisor
18. MO2 Westown Hotel Bacolod Tripadvisor: about 91 reviews | 3.3/5
MO2 Westown has a smaller Tripadvisor review base of around 91 reviews.
The review history discusses rooms, location, pool facilities, service and value. With fewer reviews than the properties at the top of this article, its overall rating should be read with that smaller sample in mind.
19. GT Hotel Bacolod Tripadvisor: about 83 reviews | 3.9/5
GT Hotel has approximately 83 Tripadvisor reviews.
The property is categorized separately from some of the larger hotel listings, so the review count and rating are more useful here than trying to force it into a particular city-wide ranking.
Reviews discuss location, rooms, cleanliness, service and value, with generally moderate-to-positive observations.
See GT Hotel reviews on Tripadvisor
Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center is another relatively new hotel in Bacolod, but somehow, it already feels like home to me. I’ve conducted quite a number of my graduate school class meetings here, and we recently held the induction of Bacolod SMILE at the hotel as well. The photo above was taken during the MassKara 2025 Masquerade, adding another memorable occasion to my growing list of experiences here.
One thing I particularly admire about Roy’s is that some of its hospitality management personnel are veterans in the industry, including their captain waiters whom I’ve known from way back. They bring with them that old-school familiarity and genuine hospitality that I really appreciate. The service has always felt personalized, and when people already know you, remember your preferences, and make you feel comfortable without making a big production out of it, that’s the kind of hospitality I admire.
20. Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center | Tripadvisor: #5 of 43 hotels in Bacolod | 4.8/5 | about 56 reviews
Now we come to an interesting case.
Roy’s has a very strong 4.8/5 rating and is currently #5 of 43 hotels on Tripadvisor.
But it has only around 56 reviews.
See Roy’s Hotel reviews on Tripadvisor
Why that matters
A 4.8 rating is certainly impressive.
But compare it with Seda’s 939 reviews or Park Inn’s 550.
Roy’s rating comes from a much smaller body of traveler feedback.
That does not make the rating less genuine. It simply means that we should not interpret 4.8/5 from 56 reviews in exactly the same way as 4.4/5 from 939 reviews.
What travelers are saying
The available reviews are strongly positive about rooms, cleanliness, service and value. Tripadvisor’s subratings are particularly high.
For me, Roy’s is therefore a property worth watching as its Tripadvisor review base grows.
21. Bacolod Pension Plaza | Tripadvisor: about 47 reviews | 3.6/5
Bacolod Pension Plaza has a relatively small review history, with around 47 reviews.
Because of the smaller sample, the overall rating should be treated cautiously.
Reviews discuss its central location, rooms, value and service, with mixed experiences reported.
22. Stonehill Suites | Tripadvisor: about 37 reviews | 3.9/5
Stonehill Suites has approximately 37 Tripadvisor reviews.
That is a small sample compared with the hundreds of reviews accumulated by Seda, Park Inn, L’Fisher and Circle Inn.
Therefore, while the 3.9/5 rating is useful, I would not draw strong conclusions from it alone.
See Stonehill Suites reviews on Tripadvisor
23. The Henry Hotel Roost Bacolod | Tripadvisor: about 8 reviews | 4.6/5
The Henry Hotel Roost is perhaps the clearest example of why review volume must accompany the rating.
Tripadvisor currently shows approximately 8 reviews and a 4.6/5 rating.
See The Henry Hotel Roost reviews on Tripadvisor
Eight reviews cannot reasonably be compared with 939 reviews.
The rating is encouraging, but the sample is simply too small to make a strong statistical comparison.
As more travelers stay and review the property, the Tripadvisor score may provide a more meaningful picture.
My Personal Disclaimer
I want to emphasize this because I don’t want readers to mistake this article for something it is not.
I personally enjoy visiting hotels, restaurants and other places in Bacolod, and I do write reviews myself whenever I have the opportunity.
But I have not stayed in every property listed in this article.
Some of these hotels I know personally. Others I have yet to experience.
Therefore, I am not going to pretend that I personally know what every room feels like, how cold every air-conditioner gets, how the breakfast tastes every morning, or how the pool looks on a particular day.
Where I have personal experience, I can speak from that experience.
Where I don’t, I rely on what Tripadvisor travelers have reported.
That distinction is important to me.
And That’s Really the Point of This Article
There are plenty of hotel articles online that simply say:
“Beautiful rooms. Great pool. Excellent service. Perfect location.”
But those descriptions don’t always tell us enough.
If someone says the air-conditioning is good, what does “good” mean?
Was the room actually cold?
Was the unit quiet?
Did it malfunction?
If someone says the pool is good, what did they like about it?
Was it clean?
Was it large?
Was it crowded?
Was it good for children?
Was it under maintenance?
Those are the details that I think travelers actually want to know.
So rather than simply repeating hotel descriptions, I have tried to look at what guests actually experienced and reported.
A Note About Tripadvisor’s Ratings
Tripadvisor ratings are cumulative.
That means a hotel’s current score may include reviews written years ago as well as reviews written very recently.
This matters enormously.
A hotel could have:
- changed management;
- renovated its rooms;
- replaced its air-conditioning units;
- improved its breakfast;
- changed its staff;
- upgraded its facilities;
- changed its policies;
- or experienced deterioration in some areas.
An older review may therefore describe a hotel that no longer exists in exactly the same condition.
There is also a second issue:
Not every guest writes a review.
The people who leave reviews are a self-selected group. Some may have had an exceptional experience. Others may have been particularly disappointed.
So Tripadvisor should be used as one source of information, not as an absolute measurement of reality.
Finally, Check Before You Book
If you are considering any of these properties, I would suggest going one step further.
Don’t just look at the overall rating.
Look at the most recent Tripadvisor reviews.
Search specifically for the things that matter to you:
Pool? Read the recent pool comments.
Air-conditioning? Search for reviews mentioning AC.
Breakfast? Read what recent guests say about the actual food and service.
Wi-Fi? Check whether recent guests mention speed or reliability.
Room condition? Look at recent traveler photos as well as written reviews.
Family stay? Look for reviews from families.
Business trip? Look for comments from business travelers.
And if something is particularly important to you, confirm it directly with the hotel before booking, because facilities, rates, policies and operating conditions can change.
One Last Thing
This article is my way of looking at the available traveler feedback—not an official Tripadvisor ranking and not a personal endorsement of every property listed.
Some of these places I have stayed in.
Some I haven’t.
And I think it’s perfectly okay to say that.
I would rather tell you honestly “I haven’t experienced this hotel yet, but here is what its Tripadvisor guests are saying” than write as if I personally stayed there when I did not.
For me, that’s what makes a travel article more useful—and hopefully more trustworthy.
Tripadvisor provides the reviews. Travelers provide the experiences. I simply organized the information and tried to put it into context.

Honestly, when I’m choosing a hotel I don’t just look at the star rating, I check how many reviews it has too. Like I saw Citadines Bacolod has 4.9 stars but only 211 reviews, while Seda Capitol Central has 4.4 with 939 reviews. Even though Citadines’ number looks higher, Seda’s rating feels more trustworthy kasi mas marami nag-review.
I also always read the actual comments, not just the score.
Tripadvisor reviews give travelers a better idea of what to expect from hotels in Bacolod. They can learn about the actual experiences of previous guests, including cleanliness, service, location, and room quality. Positive reviews can highlight hotels that provide good value and satisfying service. However, negative reviews can also point out problems that may not be obvious from advertisements. Reading different reviews helps travelers compare their options before making a booking. It is important to look at recent and detailed reviews rather than relying on ratings alone. Overall, Tripadvisor can be a useful guide in making a more informed hotel choice in Bacolod.
In Bacolod, Tripadvisor is now the real measure of a hotel’s market position, not DOT stars. It ranks hotels by ratings, review volume, recency, and booking popularity, so leadership is user-driven.
Rankings are a shortcut for travelers – Top 3 gets noticed. Ratings give credibility, while high review volume makes a hotel seem proven and trustworthy. A high rating with low volume is seen as untested, while a slightly lower rating with high volume is seen as reliable.
Most importantly, the content of reviews shapes brand image more than ads. Travelers in Bacolod talk about friendly staff, wifi, and value, not luxury architecture. This authentic narrative builds credibility and sets expectations. It also dictates positioning and pricing – hotels praised for “cozy ambiance and worth every stay” can charge premium, while those seen as “basic but near Lacson” must compete on price.
Managers should use these keywords in promotions and digital marketing instead of inventing slogans, and practice active reputation management by replying to all reviews within 24-48 hours personally and encouraging happy guests to review.
The opportunity is free, real-time market intelligence that influences bookings. The limitations are bias – only very happy or angry guests write – risk of fake reviews, an opaque algorithm, and subjectivity that cannot replace internal quality audits.
These reviews work like free market research for hotel managers. When many guests complain about the same thing, like air-conditioning, internet, breakfast, or customer service, it shows the hotel exactly what needs to be fixed. When guests keep praising the same things, like friendly staff, good location, or good value, the hotel can use these points in their marketing. Hotels that get high marks for value but only average overall ratings can market themselves as affordable and worth the money, instead of trying to compete with luxury hotels. Hotels with fewer reviews should present themselves as personal choices while they wait for more reviews to build up, instead of claiming to be the best or most popular. For digital marketing and reputation management, hotels should ask happy guests to leave new reviews, respond politely to bad reviews, and share recent good reviews so their online image stays fresh and trustworthy.
Online reviews can help hotels fix real problems quickly and build long-term trust with guests by being honest about what they do and don’t know from personal experience. This honest approach, along with paying attention to recent and specific reviews instead of just the star rating, is what turns Tripadvisor from a simple rating page into a real tool for improving service and building a hotel’s reputation over time.
For me, the article shows that Tripadvisor rankings and guest reviews have a big influence on how people see a hotel before they decide to book. I think travelers today often check online ratings and read comments first because they want to know what other guests experienced. A hotel with a high rating can create a positive first impression and make customers feel more confident about booking. However, I also learned from the article that the number of reviews is important. A 4.9 rating based on 211 reviews and a 4.4 rating based on 939 reviews should not be viewed exactly the same way because the larger number of reviews provides more experiences to consider.
I also believe that hotel managers should not focus only on their overall rating or ranking. They should carefully read the actual comments because reviews can reveal what guests really need and what problems they experience. For example, guests may praise the staff, cleanliness, location, breakfast, or comfortable rooms, while other reviews may mention problems with air-conditioning, maintenance, check-in delays, Wi-Fi, or room facilities. These comments can help managers identify which services should be maintained and which areas need improvement.
For marketing, hotels can use these reviews to understand their target market and customer expectations. If many families appreciate the swimming pool and spacious rooms, the hotel can promote itself more strongly to families. If business travelers frequently mention convenient location, good service, and comfortable rooms, the hotel can highlight these features in its marketing campaigns. Reviews can therefore help hotels create a clearer value proposition instead of simply advertising that they are a “good hotel.”
Another important lesson for me is that online reviews can affect a hotel’s brand image and competitive advantage. Positive reviews can serve as free word-of-mouth marketing because potential customers can see real experiences from previous guests. At the same time, negative reviews can damage a hotel’s reputation if managers ignore them. Therefore, hotel managers should respond professionally to complaints, thank guests for positive feedback, and use negative comments as opportunities to improve their services.
However, I think online reviews also have limitations. Not every review represents the experience of all guests. Some reviews may be based on one person’s expectations or a single incident. The article also reminds readers that reviews can come from different periods, so recent reviews may provide a better picture of the hotel’s current condition.
Overall, my opinion is that Tripadvisor should be used as a marketing tool and source of customer insight, but not as the only basis for judging a hotel. Hotel managers should combine online reviews with guest surveys, direct feedback, operational data, and their own service-quality evaluations. If managers listen to customers and turn their feedback into actual improvements, online reviews can help not only increase short-term bookings but also build trust, customer satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term relationships.
Positive Comments About the Blog
The blog is informative, honest, and easy to understand. One of its strongest points is that the writer clearly explains that they have not personally stayed in all the hotels mentioned. This makes the blog more trustworthy because readers know which information comes from personal experience and which comes from Tripadvisor travelers.
The blog also does a good job of using actual traveler reviews to describe hotels in Bacolod. Comments about the rooms, staff, pool, breakfast, and air-conditioning give readers a better idea of what other guests experienced.
Another positive feature is the explanation of why the hotels are arranged according to the number of Tripadvisor reviews. Instead of simply saying which hotel is the “best,” the writer gives readers a different way to understand the information. A hotel with many reviews may provide a wider range of traveler experiences, while a hotel with fewer reviews may have a high rating but less feedback available.
The writing style is also friendly and personal. The writer shares their interest in Bacolod and their experience of reading and writing reviews. This makes the article more engaging and relatable, especially for people who are interested in local hotels and tourism.
Overall, the blog is a useful and responsible travel article. It provides helpful information, recognizes the opinions of different travelers, and allows readers to make their own decisions. Its honesty, clear explanation, and local perspective make it a valuable guide for people looking for accommodations in Bacolod.
Each hotel they have different stars, quality of service, facilities, amenities and marketing strategies, the most important is different pricing, there are some 5 stars hotel but the interior of their hotel a bet old. Although is it 5 stars hotel for I rather choose the 3 star hotel lower the price but the amenities are following the trend. Another thing as a guest before I booked the hotel I have to read first the review of other guest so that I have basis if I’ll book that hotel or not, online booking and if the reply right away. Some yes but most of the time base on my experience seldom of the hotel reply on emails unless you will come them through phone. Digital marketing. I notice one hotel when it came to digital marketing almost everyday they have new post in social media. About their new promo. Like for examples for the wedding packages and other special occasion. As a guest value for money it is important you pay the higher amount so you expect as well the quality of service that you deserve but there are some hotel that didn’t meet your expectations.
Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and guest reviews significantly shape a hotel’s perceived market position, brand image, and credibility. A high ranking and positive rating can signal quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction, making the hotel more attractive to potential guests. A large volume of reviews strengthens credibility because consistent feedback suggests that the hotel’s performance is based on many actual guest experiences rather than isolated opinions.
The nature of reviews is equally important. Positive comments can reinforce the hotel’s brand image and create favorable customer expectations, while recurring negative reviews can reveal service weaknesses and reduce trust. Therefore, Tripadvisor data provides hotels with both a reputational asset and a management tool: it influences customer decision-making while helping managers identify areas for service improvement.
Overall, Tripadvisor does not simply measure popularity; its rankings, ratings, and review patterns can affect customer perceptions, expectations, competitive positioning, and ultimately a hotel’s ability to attract and retain guests.
Hospitality managers can turn Tripadvisor insights into actionable strategies by analyzing who is reviewing, what guests value, and recurring service issues. Reviews can help managers:
• Target markets: Identify guest segments based on travel purpose, preferences, and review patterns.
• Customer needs: Determine frequently mentioned expectations, preferences, and complaints.
• Service quality & guest experience: Use recurring feedback to correct service gaps and improve key touchpoints.
• Value proposition & positioning: Highlight strengths that guests consistently praise and differentiate the hotel from competitors.
• Pricing: Align rates with perceived value, guest satisfaction, and competitive positioning.
• Promotions & digital marketing: Use positive guest experiences and review themes as content for social media, websites, and promotional campaigns.
• Customer engagement: Respond promptly and professionally to reviews, showing that guest feedback is valued.
• Online reputation management: Monitor ratings, review volume, and negative patterns continuously, address problems, and encourage satisfied guests to share authentic feedback.
Thus, Tripadvisor should be treated not merely as a rating platform but as a source of customer intelligence that can guide marketing decisions, service improvements, and reputation management.
Online reviews and rankings provide hotels with real-time customer feedback, credibility, visibility, and competitive insights that can influence booking decisions and short-term market performance. They help managers identify customer preferences, service problems, and opportunities for improvement.
However, they have limitations: reviews may be subjective, inconsistent, biased, or influenced by isolated experiences, while rankings may not fully reflect actual service quality. Overreliance can therefore lead to misleading marketing decisions.
Strategically, managers should use reviews to identify recurring customer needs, improve service quality, personalize guest experiences, refine value propositions, and respond professionally to feedback. Positive reviews can support promotions and digital marketing, while negative reviews can guide corrective action. Consistent engagement and reputation management can improve short-term bookings while building trust, loyalty, and long-term customer relationships.
Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and guest reviews matter because they shape how future guests perceive a hotel’s quality, trustworthiness, value, and overall experience before they book. But as the article points out, the star rating by itself doesn’t tell the whole story. For instance, Citadines shows a very high 4.9/5 rating, but that’s based on only around 211 reviews, while Seda has a slightly lower 4.4/5 rating from nearly 939 reviews. Roy’s is similar: 4.8/5, but from just 56 reviews. These examples show that the number of reviews, what guests are actually saying, and how recent those comments are all crucial for interpreting ratings correctly.
For hospitality managers, online reviews act like real-time market intelligence. Patterns in guest comments about cleanliness, staff behavior, breakfast quality, location, air-conditioning, facilities, or perceived value highlight what customers care about and where the hotel might be falling short. Managers can use positive feedback to strengthen their value proposition and marketing messages, while recurring complaints can guide concrete improvements in service, facilities, pricing, promotions, and the overall guest journey. Review trends can also reveal who the hotel’s core guests are families might care most about pools and convenience, whereas business travelers may prioritize location, reliable Wi Fi, comfort, and efficient service.
Reviews also open the door to active reputation management. Thoughtful, professional responses that acknowledge concerns and show follow-up actions can build trust and encourage repeat visits. That said, reviews have limits: they come from self-selected guests and often reflect only the most extreme experiences, and overall ratings blend old and new feedback, so they may not always reflect current conditions.
Because of this, managers should treat Tripadvisor as a strategic source of customer insight, not a definitive scorecard. By looking at ratings together with review volume, recent comments, common guest concerns, and internal operational data, they can make smarter marketing and service decisions. Used this way, online reviews can help drive bookings and protect reputation in the short term while supporting continuous improvement and stronger long-term guest relationships.
Great points here, Tripadvisor definitely plays a huge role in shaping how a hotel is perceived—its rankings, ratings, and guest reviews all feed into market position, brand image, and even what guests expect before they book but I agree that managers shouldn’t just fixate on the overall star rating or where they sit in the rankings.
The real gold is in the details like how many reviews there are, how recent they are, and what guests are actually saying. Are they raving about the location but complaining about cleanliness? Do they love the staff but think the rooms are overpriced? Those insights tell you exactly what matters to your customers such as cleanliness, service, comfort, value, etc. and where you can improve.
For hospitality managers, this kind of feedbck is valuable. It helps pinpoint target markets, refine the guest experience, adjust pricing or promotions, and even shape digital marketing campaigns. Plus, responding to reviews (especially complaints) shows guests you’re listening and care about their experience, which goes a long way for reputation management.
That said, Tripadvisor isn’t perfect. Reviews can be subjective, sometimes outdated, and not every guest leaves one. So for me, it’s smart to use this data alongside your own operational metrics and direct guest feedback. If its improved strategically, platforms like Tripadvisor can boost short-term performance while helping build long-term trust, satisfaction, and loyalty.
Base on the information from the article:
Critical Analysis: Tripadvisor as a Market-Position Signal
The article’s Bacolod hotel data illustrates that Tripadvisor rankings and ratings are not neutral scoreboards — they are compound signals whose meaning depends on how rating, rank, and review volume interact.
Market position vs. brand image: Rank and rating can diverge sharply from underlying scale. Citadines Bacolod City sits at #1 with a 4.9/5 rating, but this rests on only 211 reviews — far fewer than Seda Capitol Central’s 939 reviews at 4.4/5. A hotel’s rank signals relative competitive standing, but brand image built on a small review base is statistically fragile: a run of a few negative stays could swing it disproportionately, whereas Seda’s larger base makes its image more resilient to any single bad review cluster.
Credibility: The article makes this explicit — Roy’s Hotel at 4.8/5 from ~56 reviews and The Henry Hotel Roost at 4.6/5 from ~8 reviews are flagged as “encouraging but not statistically comparable” to properties with hundreds of reviews. This matters for managers: a small hotel racing to post a high average without building volume is building brand image on a shaky foundation.
Customer expectations: The granular content of reviews (not just the star score) sets specific expectations. L’Fisher Hotel’s reviews mention aging air-conditioning and noisy units affecting sleep — a highly specific expectation-setter that a generic “3.6/5” cannot convey. Guests who book expecting “location is strong, but AC may be an issue” arrive calibrated; guests who only see the number arrive with mismatched expectations, risking dissatisfaction.
Competitive advantage: The article’s method — sorting by review volume rather than rating alone — reveals that competitive advantage isn’t single-dimensional. Park Inn by Radisson (4.6/5, 550 reviews) arguably has a stronger combined market position than Citadines despite the lower score, because it pairs a high rating with substantial proof volume. This is the real competitive lesson: volume + score + recency together outperform any one metric alone.
Translating Review Data into Marketing Strategy
Target markets & customer needs: Circle Inn’s reviews repeatedly highlight pool-access rooms appealing to families; These recurring amenity-mentions map directly to segment targeting (families vs. business travelers using O Hotel’s “calm, comfortable” framing).
Service quality & guest experience: Recurring, specific complaints (L’Fisher’s AC noise, Planta Centro’s internet reliability, Go Hotels Plus’s incomplete room setups) function as a prioritized operational punch-list — these are the fixes with the most reputational leverage, because they appear across multiple independent reviewers.
Value proposition & positioning: Circle Inn’s ~4.1/5 value score against a 3.7/5 overall rating suggests a “practical value” positioning rather than a premium one — an example of using subratings to correct positioning rather than the headline score alone.
Pricing & promotions: A hotel like Roy’s, with an outstanding but thin rating, might use promotional stays to accelerate review volume rather than raise rates prematurely — building statistical credibility before pricing power.
Digital marketing & engagement: Consistent praise for staff (Citadines, Park Inn) is a ready-made content asset for social and website use; consistent complaints (aging facilities at Planta Centro) signal where marketing should not over-promise.
Online reputation management: The article’s emphasis on recency — noting that Ong Bun Pension’s older complaints don’t match its more positive recent reviews — shows managers must actively monitor and, where possible, contextually respond to reviews so that outdated negative impressions don’t linger uncorrected in a cumulative score.
Opportunities and Limitations
Opportunities: The data gives managers a continuously updating, low-cost diagnostic of guest priorities (pool, breakfast, AC, Wi-Fi) without needing formal surveys, and it doubles as free market intelligence on how competitors are perceived.
Limitations, drawn directly from the article’s own cautions:
Cumulative-score distortion: Tripadvisor scores blend years of reviews, so a renovated or rebranded property (like Go Hotels Plus after relaunch) may still carry the reputational residue of its older, unrenovated self.
Self-selection bias: The article notes reviewers are a self-selected group — likely skewed toward the very satisfied or very disappointed — so the “silent middle” of guests is underrepresented.
Small-sample volatility: As shown with Henry Hotel Roost’s 8 reviews, small samples can produce misleadingly high or low averages that don’t reflect steady-state quality.
Category fragmentation: Properties like The Suites at Calle Nueva and Ong Bun Pension House aren’t ranked in the main hotel category at all, meaning rankings can understate or misrepresent true competitive position depending on how the platform classifies a property.
1. Market Position and Brand Image
Tripadvisor rankings and ratings affect how customers see a hotel. High ratings and positive reviews can improve the hotel’s image, credibility, and competitive position.
2. Customer Needs and Service Quality
Reviews help managers understand what guests want and what problems they experience. Comments about cleanliness, staff, rooms, food, facilities, and value can guide improvements in service quality and guest experience.
3. Marketing Strategies
Hotels can use review information to identify their target market, improve their value proposition and positioning, set appropriate prices, create promotions, and develop better digital marketing strategies.
4. Customer Engagement and Reputation
Managers should monitor reviews and respond professionally to both positive and negative feedback. This shows that the hotel listens to customers and cares about their experience.
5. Opportunities and Limitations
Online reviews can increase credibility, attract customers, and provide useful feedback. However, reviews may reflect only individual experiences, and older reviews may not show the hotel’s current condition. Therefore, managers should look at review patterns and combine them with other business information.
6. Overall Use
Tripadvisor can help hotels improve short-term performance and build long-term customer relationships. It should be used as a guide for improvement rather than the only basis for making business decisions.
For me, Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and guest reviews are important because they can influence how people see and choose a hotel. A high rating can create a good first impression to the guest, while having many reviews can make a hotel look more trusted and experienced. However, I think managers should not look at the ratings alone. They should also read the actual reviews because they can show what guests really like and what problems they experienced during their stay. Also reviews can help hotels with their pricing, promotions, and digital marketing.
As a future hospitality professional, I think hotel managers can use these reviews to understand their target customers and their needs. For example, some guests praise the cleanliness, friendly staff, location, or facilities, the hotel can use these strengths in its marketing. If guests repeatedly complain about a certain service, a manager can use the feedback to improve the service quality and the overall guest experience.
However, online reviews also have limitations. Like in the blog said “Tripadvisor should be used as one source of information, not as an absolute measurement of reality”. Reviews are based on personal experiences, so not every review represents the experience of all guests. Some reviews may also be old and may not reflect the hotel’s current service. Because of this, I believe managers should look at the overall pattern of reviews, not just one positive or negative comment.
“The number tells you where you stand, the volume tells you how sure you should be about”
Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and guest reviews are important tools in the hotel industry because they influence how customers see and choose a hotel. A high ranking and positive rating can create a good first impression and make a hotel appear more trustworthy and competitive. On the other hand, negative reviews can affect the hotel’s image and may cause potential guests to look for other options.
The number and volume of reviews also matter. A hotel with many recent reviews may appear more established and credible than a hotel with only a few reviews. The nature of the reviews is equally important because they show what guests actually experienced, such as the quality of rooms, cleanliness, food, staff service, location, and value for money. These reviews can help managers understand customer expectations and identify areas that need improvement.
Hospitality managers can use this information to make better marketing decisions. For example, if many guests praise the hotel’s family-friendly facilities, the hotel can focus its marketing on families as a target market. If guests frequently mention excellent service, this can become part of the hotel’s value proposition and positioning. Negative comments about cleanliness, slow service, or high prices can be used as guides for improving service quality and guest experience.
Reviews can also help managers with pricing and promotions. If guests believe the hotel provides good value, managers can emphasize this in advertisements and social media campaigns. Positive guest experiences can also be turned into content for digital marketing, while responding professionally to negative reviews can show that the hotel listens to its customers. Personally responding to guests also helps build customer engagement and long-term relationships.
However, relying too much on Tripadvisor has limitations. Reviews are based on personal experiences, so they can be subjective. Some reviews may be exaggerated, outdated, or represent only one unusual experience. Rankings can also change over time as new reviews are posted. Therefore, managers should not depend on Tripadvisor alone. They should combine online reviews with guest surveys, direct feedback, sales data, staff observations, and other market information.
Overall, Tripadvisor can be a valuable marketing tool when used properly. In the short term, good ratings and reviews can attract potential guests, increase bookings, and strengthen the hotel’s online presence. In the long term, managers should use guest feedback to improve actual service rather than simply trying to increase ratings. For me, the most important lesson is that online reputation should reflect real guest satisfaction. When hotels listen to customers, improve their services, and communicate with guests professionally, online platforms can support both better business performance and stronger customer relationships.
Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and guest reviews strongly influence a hotel’s perceived market position, brand image, credibility, and customer expectations. A high rating and positive reviews can create trust and encourage potential guests to consider booking a hotel. However, ratings should not be viewed alone. Review volume, recency, and the nature of comments provide important context. For example, a high rating based on only a few reviews may provide less evidence than a slightly lower rating supported by hundreds of reviews.
Guest reviews are particularly valuable because they reveal actual customer needs and experiences. Repeated comments about cleanliness, staff service, breakfast, location, facilities, price, or room conditions can help managers identify strengths and weaknesses. These insights can guide service improvements, staff training, facility upgrades, pricing, promotions, and customer experience strategies.
Managers can also use review information to identify target markets and positioning opportunities. For example, frequent positive comments from families about a hotel’s pool may support family-oriented promotions, while business travelers praising Wi-Fi and location may support corporate packages. Positive guest experiences can also be incorporated into social media and digital marketing, provided that marketing claims remain authentic.
For online reputation management, hotels should regularly monitor reviews, respond professionally to complaints, thank guests for positive feedback, and use recurring concerns to improve operations. Effective responses can demonstrate that management values customer feedback.
However, online reviews have limitations. They may reflect individual opinions, different expectations, self-selection bias, outdated experiences, and incomplete customer representation. Rankings may also oversimplify hotel quality and are influenced by platform systems. Therefore, managers should not rely solely on Tripadvisor.
Overall, Tripadvisor is most effective when used as market intelligence rather than simply a ranking system. Hotels can combine review insights with occupancy, pricing, customer surveys, and operational data to improve short-term marketing performance and long-term customer relationships.
For hotels in Bacolod, Tripadvisor rankings and reviews can strongly affect how travelers choose where to stay. A hotel with a good rating, many reviews, and consistent positive comments can build a stronger image and gain more trust. However, I think the rating alone is not enough. What guests actually say about their experience, such as the staff, cleanliness, rooms, food, location, and value for money, gives a clearer picture of the hotel.
Bacolod hotel managers can use these reviews to understand what their guests need and what areas should be improved. Positive comments can be highlighted in promotions and digital marketing, while repeated complaints can guide improvements in service and guest experience. This can also help hotels identify whether they appeal more to business travelers, families, couples, or tourists and adjust their offers and pricing accordingly.
However, Tripadvisor reviews also have limitations because some may be old, subjective, or no longer reflect the hotel’s current condition. Bacolod hotels should therefore focus on recent patterns instead of relying on a few comments. By responding to guests and using their feedback to improve, hotels can strengthen their reputation, attract more bookings, and build long term relationships with guests.
For me, Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and reviews are important because they can affect how people see and choose a hotel. Good ratings and positive reviews can make a hotel look more trustworthy and credible. The number of reviews is also important because it gives customers more information about other guests’ experiences.
Reviews can show what guests like and what they expect, such as good service, cleanliness, location, facilities, and value for money. Hotels can use these comments to know what they need to improve and what they can highlight in their marketing, promotions, pricing, and social media. Reviews also give hotels a chance to communicate with their guests by responding to positive and negative feedback. This can help them handle complaints and maintain a good reputation online.
However, reviews are based on personal experiences, so some can be biased or outdated. Because of this, hotels should not depend only on Tripadvisor and should also consider other customer feedback. Overall, Tripadvisor is a useful tool because it helps hotels understand their guests, improve their services, attract more customers, and build good relationships with them.
TripAdvisor rankings, ratings, and guest reviews can help hospitality managers understand how customers perceive a hotel and what they expect from their stay. The article shows that travelers do not only look at the overall rating but also consider the number of reviews and the actual comments from previous guests.
These reviews can provide useful information about service quality and guest experience. Comments about staff, cleanliness, rooms, food, location, and facilities can help managers identify their strengths and areas that need improvement. Repeated complaints, for example, may indicate a service or facility concern that management should address.
Guest reviews can also support marketing decisions. Hotels can identify what their target customers value and use these strengths in their promotions and positioning. Positive feedback about location, comfort, service, or value for money can be highlighted in digital marketing campaigns.
However, reviews should not be treated as the only basis for decision-making. Guest experiences are personal, and older reviews may no longer reflect the hotel’s current condition. Managers should therefore focus on recent reviews and recurring patterns rather than relying on a single rating.
Overall, TripAdvisor can serve as a useful source of customer and market information. When properly analyzed, it can help hotels improve service quality, understand customer needs, strengthen their marketing strategies, and build better long-term relationships with guests.
Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and the number, volume, and nature of guest reviews greatly influence how a hotel is seen in the market. Higher rankings reflect a hotel’s popularity, influencing traveler decisions. A hotel with many reviews gains trust because it shows many guests have shared their experiences. Ratings give a quick impression of a hotel’s service quality, while detailed reviews set clear expectations by pointing out exactly what guests liked or didn’t like. This honest feedback builds credibility and gives hotels an edge over competitors by highlighting real guest experiences.
By analyzing online reviews, hotel managers can deeply understand who their target guests are and what they need. Positive reviews show what people love, which guides marketing and pricing strategies. Negative reviews point out where to improve, making it easy to upgrade service quality. Engaging with reviews online strengthens customer trust and supports effective reputation management. These actions support targeted promotions, improved positioning, and successful digital marketing campaigns tailored to guest priorities.
However, there are limitations. Reviews can be biased because guests who post are often those with very positive or very negative experiences, which may not represent the average customer. Ratings are cumulative and may include outdated feedback. Reviews are highly subjective, and overrelying on numbers can cause managers to miss deeper, qualitative insights. Despite these flaws, hotel managers can strategically leverage this feedback on two fronts. For short-term market performance, they can analyze real-time data to quickly adjust pricing, fix service gaps, and run targeted promotions. For long-term relationships, actively engaging with feedback builds customer trust, protects the hotel’s reputation, and refines its core value proposition to secure lasting guest loyalty.
As a student of Master’s in Hospitality Management, I really appreciate how Doc Vito ranked, rated, and reviewed different hotels in Bacolod. What makes the article interesting is that he did not simply rely on his own experience of staying in a hotel; he also considered information and feedback available to travelers. This provides a valuable perspective on how online information can shape a hotel’s perceived market position, brand image, credibility, and customer expectations.
In an industry where customer preferences change rapidly and competition is becoming more intense, the article is useful for hospitality managers because it provides insights into what customers value and expect from hotels. Managers can use information such as customer preferences, online reviews, ratings, rankings, and occupancy data to understand their market better. However, having a large amount of data is not enough. Hotel managers also need to understand what the data means and how to translate it into appropriate business and marketing decisions.
Nowadays, hotels have many ways to promote their businesses. They use Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, websites, online advertisements, and different digital platforms to reach their target customers. However, having many views, likes, website visitors, or advertisement clicks does not automatically mean that a marketing strategy is successful. These numbers are useful, but they need to be connected to actual business outcomes.
This is where Marketing Analytics becomes important. Marketing analytics helps hospitality organizations measure, analyze, and interpret marketing data to determine which strategies are effective and which ones need improvement. It is not enough for a hotel to simply be active on different marketing platforms. What matters is understanding whether these activities are actually contributing to bookings, revenue, customer satisfaction, occupancy, repeat visits, and long-term customer relationships.
Hospitality managers should also identify the primary sources of hospitality marketing data. These include customer information, booking systems, hotel websites, social media platforms, online reviews, customer surveys, loyalty programs, and sales and revenue records. Each source can provide different information about customer behavior and business performance. For example, online reviews can reveal what guests appreciate or complain about, while booking and revenue data can show whether marketing activities are actually resulting in business.
In relation to the article, Tripadvisor rankings and reviews can therefore serve as an important source of marketing information. The number of reviews, rating, and the nature of customer comments can help managers identify their strengths and weaknesses. A high rating may create a positive perception among potential guests, while repeated negative comments may indicate areas where service improvements are needed. At the same time, managers should not rely solely on ratings because the number of reviews, recency of the reviews, and specific issues mentioned by guests also provide important context.
Most importantly, hospitality managers need to apply analytics to marketing decision-making. This means going beyond simply reading or collecting data. Managers should interpret the information, identify patterns, and use the findings to develop better marketing strategies, improve service quality, enhance the guest experience, allocate resources effectively, and improve overall business performance.
In conclusion, Tripadvisor and other digital platforms can provide valuable information about how customers perceive a hotel. However, the real value of this information comes from how hospitality managers analyze and use it. Marketing analytics allows managers to move from simply knowing what customers are saying to understanding what actions the hotel should take. In hospitality, it is not only about being visible online; it is about turning customer insights into better experiences and measurable business results
In marketing world , customer service is always has a big part in hospitality and tourism industry. It always has a niche, tourist knew what they always want to experience,it might be gastronomical, cultural or identity of the destinations. It is very important to know where to go ,or to checked in ,or to stay .
In this article it helps people to identify and to choose what’s best for their vacation.
Based on the article, I think Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and reviews have a big effect on how people see a hotel. Before booking, many travelers check the rating and read the comments of other guests first. A high rating can give a good impression and make a hotel look more reliable and competitive. But for me, the rating alone is not enough. We also need to look at how many people reviewed the hotel, how recent the reviews are, and what the guests are actually saying. The number of reviews can give a wider picture of different guest experiences, while the comments can show the specific things that customers like or do not like, such as cleanliness, staff, location, rooms, food, facilities, and value for money.
For hotel managers, these reviews can be useful because they can show what customers really need and expect. If guests often mention good staff service, cleanliness, location, food, or comfortable rooms, these can become strengths that the hotel can use in its value proposition, positioning, promotions, and digital marketing. If the reviews show that customers are looking for convenience and accessibility, the hotel can focus on travelers who value these things as their target market. On the other hand, if the same complaints keep appearing, managers should not ignore them. They should use these comments to improve their service quality and guest experience. Reviews about price and value can also help managers understand whether customers feel that what they receive is worth what they pay.
I also think that responding to reviews is important for customer engagement and online reputation management. When managers respond properly, especially to negative comments, it shows that they are listening to their customers and are willing to improve. Positive reviews can also be used in social media and other digital marketing because they show the actual experiences of customers. In this way, online reviews can help hotels attract customers and strengthen their competitive position.
However, online reviews also have limitations. Not every review represents all guests because people have different expectations and experiences. Some reviews may also be old, and the number of reviews is different for every hotel. Because of this, managers should not depend only on Tripadvisor ratings or rankings when making decisions. They should also consider other customer feedback and actual hotel performance.
Overall, I see Tripadvisor as more than just a ranking platform. It can be used as a source of feedback that helps hotels understand their customers and improve their actual services. If managers use the information properly, it can help attract customers and improve short-term market performance, while continuously improving the guest experience can help build trust, satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term relationships with guests.
For me, Tripadvisor rankings, ratings, and guest reviews are important because they can influence how travelers see a hotel’s credibility, brand image, and position in the market. However, I believe that the rating alone is not enough. Managers should also look at the number of reviews and, more importantly, what guests are actually saying. Recurring comments can help identify customer needs, service issues, and areas that can improve the overall guest experience. These insights can also help hotels understand their target market, strengthen their positioning, and create more relevant promotions and digital marketing strategies.
At the same time, online reviews have limitations because they are based on individual experiences and expectations and may not represent all guests. Some reviews may also become outdated as hotel services improve or change. Therefore, managers should use Tripadvisor together with other sources such as guest feedback, surveys, and operational data. For me, the real value of online reviews is not simply getting a high rating, but using guest feedback to improve the actual experience, manage the hotel’s reputation, and build stronger long-term relationships with customers.
God speed!
Tripadvisor rankings and ratings influence travelers’ first impressions of hotels. However, ratings should not be viewed alone. Review volume also matters because a larger number of guest experiences can provide greater credibility and context.
Positive reviews can strengthen a hotel’s image by highlighting service, cleanliness, location, and facilities, while repeated negative reviews can identify areas for improvement. Managers should focus on common patterns rather than isolated comments.
Hotels can use review insights to understand what their target guests value, improve service quality, adjust promotions, and strengthen their positioning. Responding professionally to both positive and negative feedback also helps build trust and demonstrate that the hotel values its guests.
Overall, Tripadvisor is more than a ranking platform; it can serve as a source of market intelligence. Hotels can use guest feedback to improve operations, strengthen their brand, and continuously enhance the guest experience.
Based on the article, I see TripAdvisor rankings, ratings, and review data as powerful but context-dependent forces that directly shape how a hotel is perceived in the market. Rankings create an immediate sense of standing and prestige, yet they can be misleading without looking deeper—for example, Citadines sits at #1 with a striking 4.9/5 rating, but this comes from only 211 reviews, whereas Seda Capitol Central ranks slightly lower at #3 with a still-strong 4.4/5, yet draws from more than four times as many experiences at 939 reviews. This teaches me that review volume strengthens credibility, because a larger, more diverse body of feedback offers greater reliability and paints a more realistic picture than a near-perfect score built on a small sample. Ratings set clear customer expectations and influence booking confidence, but they are also cumulative and may carry outdated impressions from years ago that no longer reflect current conditions. Meanwhile, the nature and content of reviews reveal the real story—specific praise for location, staff, cleanliness, or breakfast, alongside recurring concerns like noisy air-conditioning, maintenance gaps, or pool availability—shaping not just image but what guests actually anticipate during their stay. Together, these elements define perceived value, brand image, and competitive advantage, though I must remember that neither ranking nor rating alone tells the full truth.
For me, I would rather translate these insights into concrete, targeted strategies that respond directly to what guests are actually saying. I would identify which market segments value my hotel’s strengths—whether families enjoying the pool or business travelers appreciating location—and tailor my messaging to those groups. I would study recurring feedback to understand real customer needs, prioritizing service quality improvements where reviews consistently point out gaps, and highlighting my strongest, most reliably praised features to shape the guest experience and value proposition. Using competitive comparisons, I would clarify my positioning: not just “highly rated,” but “proven reliable with hundreds of satisfied guests” or “quickly rising with exceptional service.” I would align pricing with both rating and review volume to stay competitive while reflecting the value I deliver, and design promotions and digital marketing that feature the exact words and priorities found in guest reviews to build trust and relevance. I would also actively engage with reviewers—thanking them, acknowledging concerns, and showing visible action—to strengthen customer engagement and manage online reputation, proving that I listen and continuously improve.
Finally, I recognize that online reviews and rankings offer important opportunities—they provide accessible market research, powerful social proof, and visibility that can drive short-term performance and help benchmark against competitors—but they also carry meaningful limitations. Reviews can be biased toward extreme experiences, outdated by time, or statistically unreliable when the sample size is small. Rankings change constantly and may not reflect current service, renovations, or management changes, so I should never treat them as absolute truth. Instead, I would use these platforms strategically as one key part of my overall approach, prioritizing recent reviews and recurring themes over overall scores alone, and encouraging satisfied guests to share their experiences to build both volume and credibility over time. By combining these online insights with consistent service, transparency, and genuine responsiveness, I can strengthen both short-term market results and the kind of trust and loyalty that builds lasting customer relationships.
