MOUTHWATERING NAPOLEONES BY QUAN | BACOLOD CITY
Contents
When you say Bacolod City, one would immediately think – Masskara. And if we tell Bacolod Food its always about the flavorful and unique-tasting chicken inasal, piaya, muscovado and a few other foods that are strongly associated with the place.
But apart from piaya, Bacolod has more to offer to every food lover. One of which is the Napoleones which is now getting very popular especially for those who are traveling in Bacolod.
Napoleones is very much similar to the mille-feuille pastry of French origin. Just like the Napoleones, a mille-feuille is made up of three layers of puff pastry alternating with two coats of pastry cream but sometimes whipped cream or jam are substituted. The top pastry layer is dusted with confectioner’s sugar, and sometimes cocoa, or pulverized seeds (e.g., roasted almonds). Alternatively, the top is glazed with icing or fondant in alternating white (icing) and brown (chocolate) strips and combed.
Napoleones in Bacolod, on the other hand, doesn’t have any variations. This fabulous dessert is a composition of layer upon layer of flaky puff pastry and interspersed with a thick and sinfully rich custard filling. This is then complemented by a thin coating of white icing which acts as a counterpoint to the creamy mixture sandwiched between the pastry sheets.
Several restaurants and bakeshops offer this delectable, mouthwatering confectionery. My favorite is the one made by Quan. Quan’s Napoleones is available in a box that is perfect as a pasalubong.
Never miss getting a box or two of this yummy treat should you visit the “sweet” city, Bacolod!

Napoleones is my favorite delicacy from Bacolod! Whenever I go to Bacolod, I always make sure I bring home a box or more!
I’ve heard of Napoleones but I’ve not tasted it yet. Or maybe I have, but didn’t know what it’s called considering it doesn’t look like any of our common local desserts. I’m a bit of a late-bloomer for local desserts. I will take note of this when we visit Bacolod with the kids.
The puffs look so good! Thanks for sharing this. I like pastries with flaky, thin crusts like these.
I love napoleones! I was able to buy some during my first and last trip to Bacolod. I was able to try a lot of delicious food during my stay there. I really hope I can go back soon.
