BAGUIO CITY AND ITS TOURIST SPOTS + HOTELS

Here’s your Baguio City Travel Guide. This post covers tourist spots, how to get to the place with schedules of buses, a list of  Hotels, and suggested travel itinerary.

ABOUT BAGUIO CITY

Thousands upon thousands of people ascend the sometimes treachery roads that lead to the esteemed Summer Capital of the Philippines – arguably, a place amongst the clouds, Baguio City – a place that never seems to grow old, a place that never ceases to amaze people with its evolving charms and its timeless presence.

Originally built to be a year-round getaway for ex-pat Americans who wished to experience a colder clime in the tropical heat, the place quickly became such a destination that the location had to continuously reinvent itself while still maintaining its identity. The Baguio City has since become a haven for so many people – everywhere you look, there’s something for everyone. Whether it is your bohemian soul craving for the arts, or your inner history buff looking to satisfy its desire for knowledge or your inner adventurer looking for something new to experience, Baguio has so much to offer for you.

Travel Up

The travel up to the place is an adventure in itself, passing such sights that nature endowed upon the landscape. Breathtaking terrain, jaw-dropping cliffs and ravines, and the occasional fog descending upon your means of conveyance add to the charm. Even before you set foot on the city’s limits, you feel the excitement and the vibe that seems to permeate the atmosphere. And once you get to the terminal or to your lodging house, you would surely get blasted by the vibrant sense of the city, electrifying you to your roots.

A haven for artists

Those who are artsy would find the city’s streets a haven for their passion. Visual artists would find their satisfaction touring the galleries in and around the city. Musical artists would feel the call of the arts among the various local hangouts and watering holes that dot the cityscape. The place is renowned for its charm for artists of all mediums. You certainly feel the electricity and the artistic presence cannot be denied.

Baguio City is a place for spiritual rejuvenation

Those who are inclined to a spiritual retreat and rejuvenation would find such havens among the many temples, churches, and convents that can be found in Baguio City. What’s better is that each place has a signature food souvenir that can be had. Probably the most famous are the products of the Good Shepherd Sisters whose marmalades, lenguas and ube products are, excuse the language, absolutely to die for. Communing with the Almighty can be had almost everywhere because you will get a sense of how much bounty He has bestowed upon the city and its residents.

Exciting shopping and gastronomic experiences

And of course, bargain hunters would have a grand time in its famed ukay-ukay boulevard – countless stalls offering a bargain and vintage clothing that can complete your wardrobe or simply separate you from the rest of the pack. Such wonderful finds can be had for such low and affordable prices; you wouldn’t mind the time at all. Sifting and sorting through piles and stacks of clothes and getting that absolute steal of a jacket or that one-of-a-kind pair of boots is simply quite satisfying.

Foodies will also have a good time sampling the local fare. From native local fare (whose recipes are a closely-guarded secret) to various fusion dishes, your taste buds would surely explode with such tasty delights. Add to the fact that the local diners and watering holes have their own gimmicks going on, and you would have a hard time picking where to go. You can go artsy; you can go vintage, you can go chic – the choices are endless.

Baguio City Markets

A trip to the markets of Baguio would yield a lot of souvenirs and unique products that carry the trademark vibrancy of the place. From the ubiquitous gag gifts (who can un-see the surprise of the famed Barrel Man? Or the phallic ashtrays that can be had from the handicraft stores?), to woven Ifugao masterpieces to statues and accessories that celebrate the history and culture of the Cordilleras, you would have your fill.

Time and again, the city of pines reinvents itself, adding layers upon layers to its core, enriching the offerings, strengthening the already deep connections to our national identity, making itself a testament to our resilient nature as Filipinos, cognizant of the past, but always with an eye for the present and a hankering for the promise of the future.

Things to do in Baguio City  | Tourist Spots

A visit to the place would not be complete without the requisite visit to Burnham Park – a central figure in the city’s landscape. Take a stroll along the paths and breathe the cool air, and admire the number of people admiring the sights. Take a boat and experience the lake smack in the center or test your wits against hustler chess players who seem to be everywhere in the park. Of course, the taho vendor would be calling your attention, and you would simply have to have a taste of a unique Baguio City staple – strawberry taho – with real strawberry bits, mind you – that is quite affordable and intensely satisfying.

Panagbenga Festival is one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the country. It is held every February until the first week of March.

  1. Trexie Grace Guaza

The Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City is known for its Panagbenga Festival, it is an annual flower festival which happens every February. They also display the local crafts to improve its international exposure. In this digital age wherein almost everyone has their own social media accounts, attracting foreign nationals to visit the place is through social media campaigns. City officials could invite social media influencers, bloggers, and Department of Tourism Ambassador(s) to help boost the tourism of the city. Highlighting the most visited places up to the newly opened tourist attractions. The promotions will also show the rich culture and history of Baguio.

  2. Elena P. Dato-on

Baguio is known as the summer capital of the Philippines. Despite that our country has a tropical season, there are some places that have low temperatures because it is located at a highly elevated place. Baguio is located in one of the highest and most mountainous places in the Philippines. Aside from the temperature, Baguio City is one of the most beautiful cities in our country because of the scenery of nature there. Being there you are surrounded by a lot of tall pine trees and different stunning kinds of flowers and plants that can only survive in low-temperature areas. Additionally, Baguio is known for strawberry farms, in the streets, you could get desserts like ice cream or soybean curd that is flavored in strawberries. To attract more tourists, I encourage that the following must be observed:

    • Preserve culture and way of living for the uniqueness of the place itself makes the place remarkable
    • Improve and develop places in the city that can capture the heart and eyes of many tourists
    • Make food that can make the cuisine of the whole city unique to other places
    • Support local and Igorots to help the city be known as the home of the true Filipino
    • Business to make tie-up with Bloggers, Tik Tokers, and YouTubers who influence Facebook and Instagram users who followed these influencers.
    • Promote Panagbenga Festival worldwide
    • Encourage Local residents to maintain the culture of being hospitable, and helpful when accommodating tourists.

  3. The official summer capital of the Philippines is Baguio with a unique location that foreign tourists must-visit for rejuvenation, safety, and refuge, and even as a haven for many. Comparable to Tbilisi, Georgia, which has gorgeous attractions on top of mountains, the summer capital also has these. The distinctive local goods and souvenirs must be tried. Tourists shouldn’t miss experiencing the renowned Camp John Hay, Philippine Military Academy, to see and meet the snappy PMA students and officials. It is recommended to see Baguio’s renowned Burnham Park, the mother of all parks. Strawberry picking is a special and amazing family activity too that the visitors can do at La Trinidad, Benguet.
Baguio should have several decent four or five-star hotels developed. Along with clubs and other recreational clubs like bowling, pools, and table tennis, there should have foreign-based restaurants there. Given that the must-see location is a 6-hour bus ride from the Philippine capital city, an airport should also be built.

  4. Baguio City is one of the famous places or tourist spots it’s like 4hrs away from manila and it will be known as the summer capital of the Philippines. And also known so many things like their strawberry farm, Burnham park, varieties of flowers and veggies they have and of course every tourist before they can see the beautiful place in Baguio city they need to book a hotel for them to stay for 2 or 3 nights or its depend on how many days they are staying in Baguio.
Hotels serve as a house or the place where the tourist go to rest at night for the whole travelling or walking around Baguio. That’s why the hotel in Baguio is really beautiful and comfortable to stay in.
Actually, I’m happy to know that some of my Singaporean friends already know about Baguio city and they already come there before and they talk all have positive feedback to me. But I still encourage them to come back again to see the development and improvement of the place.

I just hope that our government can do something to make it shorter the journey from Manila to Baguio city, so then the tourist has more time to explore the place. Maybe one day can construct a domestic airport in Baguio city in this way its more convenient to travel.
Baguio City has so much variety to showcase like their native products, delicacies, and awesome tourist spots to the tourist and also the Pilipino people.
Even though I’m from the Philippines but I haven’t been to Baguio City, it’s my dream to be there and bring along my family members to Baguio city one day. Then we are able to witness and explore how beautiful that place is.
Since our country has just started to pick up from the effect of the pandemic we need to make sure there is a safety procedure need to be followed by the tourist coming to Baguio city either foreign or local.
The local DTI need to collaborate with all the resorts and hotels in town to come up with some idea or promotions to attract tourist to come in and explore Baguio.
Like free entrance fee and a 10% discount if you stay 3 or more nights in the hotel, And 10% for dine-in. And a 5% discount on the tour guide and some of the rides.

  5. Baguio City, recognized as the “City of Pines”, is known for the many amazing and inspiring things it has to offer for both tourists and locals. Baguio City is also known to have cold weather and one of the coldest temperatures that have been recorded in the City of Pines is 7.1°Celsius, which dates back to January 9, 1971. Moreover, just in the year 2017, that record has almost been reached yet again when the temperature went down 7.3°Celsius.
Come and visit the iconic statue, Baguio City’s Lion’s Head could be found on one of the main roads to the City of Pines – the Kennon Road. Tourists and visitors of Baguio City can stop by the statue to take photos and buy souvenirs or pasalubongs just beside the Lion’s Head.
Baguio City is also known for its numerous tourist spots like Session Road, Our Lady of the Atonement Cathedral, Baguio Cathedral, Burnham Park, Botanical Garden, Mines View Park, and Baguio City Camp John Hay.
Strawberries? Yes! Baguio City has a lot to offer. Baguio City has a variety of strawberries from fruits to jam, delicacies and crafts. Everywhere in Baguio City, you can find strawberry stalls and stores selling strawberries of different sizes and strawberry delicacies of various types. At Mines View Park Hotel, you can find Strawberry Taho, Strawberry Jam, Strawberry Ice Cream, Strawberry Cakes, and Strawberry Sinigang. In addition, there are strawberry key chains, strawberry fridge magnets, strawberry knitted shoulder bags, strawberry wooden sculptures, and a lot more.
If you are the type of person who is up for a calm and relaxing vacation, Baguio City sure can offer you a variety of breathtaking views and landscapes since it is situated in a high, mountainous place. Moreover, when the night comes, you’ll be able to see the striking night lights the city has to offer.
Aside from the tourist attraction, food, and places Baguio City can offer, the most beautiful part is the accommodating, happy, and friendly people of Baguio City. For sure, you will be accommodated well with a smiling face.

  6. Patti Lovelle Cabantug

Baguio City is one of the best cities to travel here in the Philippines for its beautiful mountain scenery and pine trees. One way to attract more tourists to visit the city is by enhancing the website which articulate the best tourism activities and destinations, its people, products, food and festivities. Provide beautiful photos to entice tourists. Have a list of restobars, hotels and contact numbers and persons whom to get first-hand information. Provide guides and vicinity maps, mode of transportation and distance from the city and recommend tour guides as much as possible. To include what to do and not to do when in Baguio City.

  7. Joven Rojo 3-R1

I’ll motivate him/her with a good smile and with a good and encouraging words I have. No matter what you feel i’m always here for you.

First is I will ask why he/she doesn’t want to go and I will motivate him/she that we all get the excellence job performance I will tell him/her that I will not get the excellence job performance if it wasn’t for my teammates and for him/her.

  9. JOHN MARK E. MERIDA BSIT 3-R1

THE BAGUIO IS THE ONE OF THE TOURIST SPOT BECAUSE BAGUIO HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF THE TOP DESTINATIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES. BECAUSE OF IT’S CHILLY TEMPERATURE, PINE- DOMINATED LANDSCAPES, AND OVERALL ROMANTIC ATMOSPHERE, THIS MOUNTAIN CITY HAS ATTRACTED TOURISTS ESPECIALLY IN SUMMER AND THE HOLIDAYS LIKE CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR.

  10. If my teammates doesn’t want to go I can motivate him by showing him the beauty and activities we can do in Baguio. Baguio City has a lot of things to offer. It is a place for spiritual rejuvenation, haven for artist, and they also has lots of places where we can unwind and relax. We can also do strawberry picking and bring it as a pasalubong to our love ones. we can also visit the mines view park and witness the view and take some pictures as remembrance. It’s a once in a lifetime experience and considered is as a reward for all our hardworks.

If one of my teammates doesn’t want to go on a week tour in the city, I will motivate this person by saying him that this the chance to relax our selves and enjoying our reward. And motivating him that we need to enjoy our life not just working all day, stressing our selves and always bring some problems. We need to make our selves stress free, forgot our work for a week, forgot our problems for a week. This is the reward of our hard working we need to enjoy to enjoy this, lets make it more enjoyable for week and experiencing other activities that it can make us happy. Visiting some establishments in the city, take some picture because that picture we can take it will remember us that days past it feel us happy that we enjoy our tour in the city.

I will tell my colleague that a company trip offers so many benefits that we really should be making time for them.
Firstly, it is an opportunity to relax and travel, we all know that there is nothing better than forgetting about work for a while. Secondly, it is a chance to get to know more our coworkers. Lastly, being surrounded by motivated people might influence us, and you never know, you might even find solutions to some of your problems!

  19. I will motivate my teammates doesn’t want to go by showing the best picture in Baguio. And also I will told her/he that is the opportunity that he must considered Because a lot of people wants to go to Baguio because of the best view and the cold weather .

For me motivating a person requires skill and flowering words. I will motivate my teammate by saying about good stuff in Bagiuo and it is a rare chance to have this tour. I will say all the benefits that he or she can get and i will remind his or her from time to time.

  21. Michaela Rose P. Tobillo BSIT 3R-1

I will talk and encourage my teammates to come with us or join with us we need to approach my teammates so that my teammates cannot shy. I will make my teammates feel and appreciated Because one of the greatest needs of each person is the need of being appreciated. I will tell my teammates na you should need to be relax and enjoy. Because relaxing can quiet your mind and make you feel peaceful and calm.

  22. Dave Oyanan

I will motivate one of my teammates by talking to him/her that we need to travel because travelling is the urge to learn about a different place and costums. To relax in a days or weeks of working. To experience an entirely new environment, learn new things which is unfamiliar, and even hear the language spoken with also an unfamiliar accent. Because travelling is an effective way for a person or us to gain firsthand knowledge about a place and it’s inhabitants.

  23. Arianne Jane Pancho BSIT 3M-1

My intention is to remind this person that, after all of the hard work and sleepless hours that we’ve put into every account we’ve handled as a team, this is one of the things that we deserve. When the fruit we’ve been waiting for is finally here, and the feeling of sweetness we’ve been craving is finally here, why not take advantage of the benefits? Having you join the team because we are one means that we cannot genuinely enjoy the tour if we are worried that someone on the team isn’t as pleased as we are, and this is a fantastic opportunity to relax and clear our minds after quite some time. I’ll also reassure that person that he or she is capable of achieving their goals. Perhaps the tour will assist him in overcoming his or her lack of motivation. Consider the opportunities that the tour may present for you, and especially for us as a group.

  24. THERESA E. YANSON

In order to motivate my teammate to go to Baguio, I will let him/her see a background of what Baguio is. The culture, view, environment, accommodation and etc. that will help him/her to agree. Baguio is one of the tourist spot you need to go to here in the Philippines. There are a lot of beautiful spots, place, restaurants found in Baguio. Although the weather is cold it helps you to relax from work and take away all the stress. Even though we are working we must don’t forget to reward ourselves sometimes to relax our mind and have a peace serenity.

Many people are stressed out at work. And sometimes giving them a vacation as a reward for their efforts would be preferable. We all need to unwind from time to time. Because we sometimes forget to have fun and enjoy our lives without becoming stressed out at work. We should make time for our coworkers and remind them that life is too short to be stressed. And sometimes taking a rest and choosing to be happy is not a mistake. We all deserve that.

If one of my teammates doesn’t want to go to our week tour. The things that I can do to encourage him/her to go with, is simply telling him/her that this week tour can help us to be more productive in our work. It can help us to relax our mind and also build our communicating skills as a team. With this week tour we can discuss some things that needs to improve.

  33. Ma. Erica A. De Anon 3M1

I’ll tell this person that after all of the things that we’ve done as a team, all of the hard work and sleepless hours that we’ve invested in every account that we’ve handled, this is one of the things that we deserve after all. This is the fruit we’ve been waiting for, and the taste of sweetness we’ve desired is finally in front of us, so why not enjoy the benefits of it? This is an excellent opportunity to relax and clear our minds after quite some time. You must join the team because we are one, and we cannot truly enjoy the tour if we are worried that someone on the team isn’t as happy as we are. I’ll also encourage that person that he/she should go because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bond as a team.Perhaps the tour itself will help him/her shed his/her feeling of unmotivated. Just think of the possibilities that the tour may open up for you, and especially for us as a team.

If there’s a will there’s a way. I will motivate one of my teamwork by talking to him/her nicely that in our life sometimes we need to relax, give time to ourselves and rejuvenate our mind and body. Through this one (1) week tour can help us face future adversity in work and in our personal life. By facing this with strong, wise and healthy physically and mentally. And I will motivate one of my teamwork through giving him/her an idea what really Baguio is. And show the things that we can do in that place, the different fantastic places and how nice the weather there. And also letting him/her imagine how tantalizing that place is. Lastly, I will give him/her my promise that he/she won’t go home unhappy and unsatisfied, even though promises are meant to be broken but I will show to him/her that I am confidently capable of my promise.

    Answer:
For me the first thing to do is to approach her/him personally in a manner way. Determine what is the reason why she/he doesn’t want to go in our week tour. If the reasons being identified, select a solutions and scanned all the possible solution that will help to resolve the problem. When the problem is resolve successfully, that will be the time to motivate her/him. Motivate her/him that every problem has a solution, you just need to let it out so that other teammates can help you find a way to resolve the problem in a good way.
