Bangui Windmills

We were doing our Ilocos Tour, taking the van that we rented, we headed straight to Bangui Wind Mill after our Kapurpurawan Rock Formation visit.

The heat was quite intense at that time, that’s why I appreciated more that we rented a van instead of taking just a tricycle. That was already noontime, and  I was a bit hungry already, but we shot some pictures first and enjoyed the 20 wind turbines all lined up in the beautiful shoreline of the place.

While Windmills are now present in other parts of the country, I guess it was Ilocos Norte who did it first, and it even became an icon of the place.  In fact, in many tourism campaigns of Laoag, you will always see pictures of the windmill. Hence, we don’t want to complete our Ilocos tour by missing this place

Bangui Windmills is located in Bangui, Ilocos Norte. The wind farm has 20 units of 70 meter (230 ft.) high Wind Systems all lined along the 9-kilometer shoreline of the place.

These accommodation facilities are available for any tourist who would want to spend a night at the place. Just a word of warning, this is a very quiet place…Bangui Windmills

There were two air-conditioned huts that are available for tourists at the place. The location is quiet, and I guess it would also be nice to spend a night and rest in the area.  Well, I don’t recommend that you will stay here for long for you might get bored unless you want some peace or to meditate.

Bangui Windmills

Right at the place of the Bangui windmills is a lovely restaurant offering  Ilocos delicacies. Of course, I have to try their pinakbet, and by the looks of this photo, you can tell that it was prepared fresh.

I so love Ilocos Bagnet probably because of the crispy texture of the pork. We also tried their fish sinigang…not bad but not spectacular as well.

HOW TO GET TO BANGUI WINDMILLs

From Laoag, following the Maharlika Highway, you will be passing through the town of Baccarra, Pasuquin, and Burgos. The moment you move after  Burgos, watch out for the directional signs on the left side going to the site. Traveling time from Laoag to the Town of Bangui where the Windmill is located is approximately one hour and a half via Jeepney or bus bound for Pagudpud or Cagayan. Bangui windmills are relatively visible from the highway, so it is impossible for you to get lost.
