One of the most impressive festival to experience in the Philippines is the Sinulog Festival of Cebu. The grand celebration which takes place every January of each year is loaded with activities, cultural and visual attractions for every guest.

The Southern part of Cebu holds some best place to visit as well as top things to do. With its almost approximate distance to the city center, this area seems to be an undiscovered gem, waiting to be found by a lot of tourists. In this article, I will be sharing with you tips of places and activities to do in the Southern part of Cebu if you happen to visit here.
This 200-feet high waterfalls with a massive basin at the bottom are not only captivating in terms of view, but it is also refreshing and calming for those who would like to take a bath or swim at the bottom of the basin part.
2.Carcar Rotunda
Located at the National Highway, this intricately designed and built rotunda is something that you should not miss. It is an icon in the middle of the highway, and I am sure that you won’t find it difficult to look for it.
3. Eat Carcar’s Lechon and Chicharon
Pork cracklings or also known as chicharron are incredibly delicious! And of course, the famous Lechon Cebu, the best of it can be found in Carcar. What they serve here is the best of the best and the most freshly made of all.
These old houses were built and were inspired by the Spanish and American era. That is why if you happen to visit here, it is as if you are going back to the old years or time of the country. These houses are just nearby the Carcar church.
5. Try the Torta de Argao
A vacation will not be complete without a little food trip. The Torta de Argao is a bread-like food which contains some filling within. Try it out and be ready to buy more because of its delicious taste.

6. Visit at Carcar Church
Built back in 1860 to 1875 by the Augustinians, the Carcar Church or also formally known as St. Catherine of Alexandria Church is a must-see place in the southern part of Cebu. The architecture of it is a combination of Graeco-Roman and Islamic influence.
The only remaining original stone-made church in the entire province is the Baljoon Church. Because of this, it was already declared by the nATIONAL historical Landmark back in 1990. Also, nearby to it is the Escuela Catolica and the El Gran Baluarte which was built in 1880. Yes, this trip in this area will be a very historical one and educational at the same time.

Believed to house the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary, the place is being flocked by a lot of tourists and pilgrims. The architectural beauty of the area paired with the teaming religious activity is something that you have to witness.
9. Visit the Oslob’s Church and Cuartel
Built-in the year 1830, this church dedicated to the Immaculate Concepcion is also one of the top places to visit here. Nearby is the Cuartel constructed in 1898 which served then as a military barracks of the Spanish colonizers.

10.Swim with the Whale Shark in Oslob
Absolutely one of the most popular attractions in the Southern part of Cebu is the Oslob Whale Shark Watching and Swimming. This controversial attraction is getting attention from various kinds of travelers.

11. Visit Tumalog Falls in Oslob
An added attraction in Oslob, Cebu is the Tumalog Falls which you can just quickly add in your travel itinerary if you are visiting to see the whale sharks.
Tumalog Falls, which is also called as “Mag-ambak falls” or “Toslob falls” is located in Barangay Luka and can easily be reached by a habal-habal.
12. Visit Sumilon Island
Blessed with powdery sand beaches, Sumilon Island is merely 15-20 minutes pump boat ride from Oslob. This Island is another great segway if you are visiting other attractions in Oslob, Cebu.
13. Canyoneering in Cebu ( Alegria and Badian)
Canyoneering in Badian and Alegria is one fun adventure one must ever have. It will be a test of one’s self-confidence and physical prowess. The activity will culminate in one famous waterfall in Cebu, the Kawasan.

14. Trek and swim at Kawasan Falls
Kawasan Falls could be your culminating attraction if you do the Canyoneering in Badian and Alegria. However, if you are not bent on canyoning, you can just opt to visit the Kawasan Fall by taking the local Habal-habal available in the area.

One of the highest peaks in Cebu, the Osmeña Peak is standing 1,013 meters above sea level. This attraction offers a spectacular view of the jagged cliffs around the area as well as a view of the sea from afar. Certainly, this place will not fail you with its majestic view from the top.

16. Experience Moalboal
Moalbaol is popular among weekend travelers as well as divers from all over the world. The place offers beautiful beaches and fantastic water activities.
The pristine water paired with the powdery cream sand is captivating. It will entice you to swim and to fully experience the place by walking along the shore, having a sunbathing, or merely enjoying the scenic view of the beach and the sea.
