DISCOVERING ILIGAN CITY AND ITS TOURIST SPOTS
The City of Iligan is situated in Northern Mindanao and is a highly urbanized city. That said, it is no wonder the place has been continuously flourishing and developing in recent years. With a total population of around 324,618 people based on the 2015 census, the people here are very welcoming to all tourists. They make it ensures that people will feel like they are at home, a home away from home. Thus, the equally flourishing tourism aspect of the place is also something to be proud of.
The tropical vibe of the city makes it ideal for those who would like to experience some sunshine by going to beaches or the different notable waterfalls. Aside from that, one would be assured of a safe stay in the city since it does not experience a lot of weather disturbances. The place is known for being called the place of “majestic waterfalls.” This is for the reason that it holds a lot of famous and, at the same time, scenic waterfalls. It is where Maria Cristina Falls could be found. In total, it has 24 waterfalls waiting to be discovered and explored.
Aside from the fact that you could relinquish the heat of the weather by going to these falls, other activities which you may also be interested in are hiking, swimming, diving, trekking, and all other sorts of activities. If I must say, this place holds a lot of high-key to down to low-key experiences, making it perfect for the diverse type of tourists or visitors.
The place also holds a month-long celebration of the Diyandi Festival in September. Two of the best activities which you may witness are the street dancing parade along with the ritual dance which aims to give thanks to the patron saint, Saint Michael the Archangel. Aside from that, other provincial-based festivals such as Sinulog and Kasadya are also celebrated here. Because of this, one might feel interested in coinciding a vacation trip here with the festivals to enjoy all the things the place has to offer fully.
You might think that heading to this beautiful city will be a tough journey. Well, you’re mistaken! In going here, one may take a passenger cruise vessel leading to the port of Iligan. If you’re up to some plane ride, then you’ll choose to land at Laguindingan Airport. It is where planes coming from Bacolod, Caticlan, Cebu, Clark, Davao, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Manila, and Tagbilaran arrive and depart. As for city transportation, it is also pretty efficient. They have public transport such as jeepneys, pedicabs, and taxis. In short, going around the City is something easy and convenient.
More than these, one of the reasons why tourists frequently visit the pace is the hospitality and warm welcome given by the locals. Indeed, this city is your way away from home. Come here now and experience the beauty of Iligan.

Though it only accommodates visitors every Saturday and Sunday, that does not stop people from going on that schedule. It serves as the primary source of energy in the city, making it worthy of its local name as “Mother of Industry” as well as “Fountainhead Progress.”
