With its short distance from the city center of Cebu (about three hours of travel), it is no wonder that Oslob has been one of the favorite travel destinations of a lot of tourists who go to Cebu. What you might have heard about it is the famous whale shark, and yes this is something that you must personally witness. But aside from this, Oslob holds a lot of undiscovered gems when it comes to activities to do and places to go.

Oslob Tourist Spots, Heritage Sites

1.Baluarte

These baluartes or the watchtower of the town served the place in a lot of ways back then. It functioned as a form of guarding the village against the possible invaders coming from the sea. Out of the seven existing baluartes in the town of Oslob, the most accessible and comfortable to reach is the one built back in 1788 and is located at the Municipal Heritage Park.

2.Calle Aragones

Hailed as the oldest street in this town, Calle Aragones got it named from the name of the Spanish priest of the place back during the Spanish colonization era, Father Jose Aragones. The path of this road begins from the church itself heading to the barracks or also known as the cuartel.

4. Church Wall and Gates

Built back in 1875, these walls and gates were made to protect the town from Moro invaders. What makes these unique are the pyramid-shaped tips because this specific feature made it much efficient in protecting the town.

5.Cuartel

Formerly served as a barracks or a headquarters during the Spanish era, what remains now serves as the historical remains of what was once there. Though it is not complete in terms of the structure since it was stopped when the Americans came, the overall built and figure of it is still visible and evident.

6.Immaculate Conception Parish Church

Considered as one of the oldest church in the entire province of Cebu, this church stood firm amidst calamities. Though it was already restored a couple of times because of fire (back in 1955 and in 2008), they manage to make it appear just like the original. Thus, this place is a historical one.

7.Municipal Heritage Park

Sitting here while admiring the view of the mountains and the water is enough for your rest time to be a beautiful one. The benches available in the area allows you to sit in the middle of a busy day, and admire what nature has to offer.

Because of the abundant source of sulfuric water, this water allows one to relax and be rejuvenated while taking a dip in the warm pool. Not only it is relaxing; some also believe that this is therapeutic. That is why a lot of people also go here to experience such warm bath.

9.Tumalog Falls

Locally known as Toslob Falls, this falls found in Barangay Tan-away holds two activities which one must not miss in visiting the place. First, if the watching of the whale shark in the same area, and the second is the picturesque view of the actual waterfalls.

10.Sumilon Island

From Barangay Tan-Awan, you have to ride a boat going to this island for about 15 to 20 minutes. The rich flora and fauna in this island will make you feel refreshed and relaxed. A day out of the busy town can be correctly spent here either with your friends or with your families.
